Has anyone else had it? Where you boot the game up and it doesn't render all the graphics properly. Things like Croc's head is missing etc.
I heard it's due to the devs forgetting to add code to initialize one of the chips because they used the boot discs for testing and forgot apparently.
Does every PAL version of croc have the bug or only select prints of the game?

I never had the problem with my US or Japanese copies of the game, but I popped in a PAL version and it happened to me too.
Croc's head was missing, lava had a really weird repeating/screwed up texture, and a buncha other fun stuff.

Does this only happen on the intro or are there bugs during gameplay too?

it happens throghout the game. As in when you're actually playing the game the rendering is screwed. Kinda odd.
Are there any PAL copies that don't do it? Maybe a later print etc...
Sucks because I really want the game but the fact you have to boot up your saturn to the bios menu before you can play the game for it to render sucks.
(The spaceship and stars make the chip load up where the game failed.)

Tunn on your Saturn without a disc in, wait until it get's to the CD player screen, THEN put Croc in and fire it up from there...

But he just said he doesn't want to do that. You have two other options: 1. You can install a region switch and get the US copy. (Though I haven't tried more than my copy so the problem may be here) 2. Get the superior PlayStation version with full music tracks and better visuals. (But worse load times)

No,
but I was just curious in any case whether or not it was fixed in a re-print or not.

:/ to be fair, I think its a pain in the arse that you have to start up the console without the disc....

The main reason I opted for a modchip over the swap trick. I hated having to go through all that trouble just to play one game.
Mind you, the same can be said about modern games where you have to wait for an hour for the splash screen to go "PTEW PTEW SPLASH PTREW!!!" and then you have to browse through menus to find the option to play the game, then you have to set up an account, then log in, then... ugh... then scream "I JUST WANT TO PLAY THE GAME!!"
Compared to modern gaming, having to pop in Croc afterwards is nothing.

I got the PC version of Croc running with glide wrappers on my rig, looked lovely, but it's not aged particularly well gameplay wise. I'm happy to share the details if anyone can be bothered to repeat the experiment.

I had this with my first Saturn and loved it (glitch and all) I picked up a cheap PS1 version a while back and though it is good my nostalgia gland craves the Saturn version and the Saturn version only, I can't control it!!

I've got to admit that I have a particular soft spot for this game too sidney. There's a distinct lack of true 3D plat-formers on the Saturn (and that's including the Japanese exclusives - let alone the poor showing here in Europe and the U.S.). I think it's a genuine shame that the Saturn was over-shadowed so quickly by Sony and Nintendo, as I would have loved to have seen more games of this quality. Strangely, I've never actually got round to completing Croc - although I was pretty close to 100% completion at one point (around 10 years ago now - how time flies!!). Also, I never got on with using the 3D pad for playing this game, I found it far more playable with a standard d-pad (especially in the tougher levels near the end). No doubt I'll give Croc another whirl at some point in the future, even though I'll have to start from scratch again as my previous save is looong gone!! Anyway, I keep seeing copies of this floating around e-bay for fairly reasonable prices, so I strongly suggest you bite-the-bullet and treat yourself to a copy!!
