I've recently been trying to find out about the Zero Divide series but I can't seem to find any major source on the internet. Wikipedia was dry & there's hardly any real info on any of the major gaming websites (Gamespot, 1up, Giant Bomb, etc).
All I know is that there were three games, two on the PS1 (Zero Divide & Zero Divide 2) & only one for the Saturn called Zero Divide: The Final Conflict which was released after the first two. From watching as many YouTube videos as I can find I've deduced that its a nifty looking though mediocre 3D fighting game with robots & features an armour mechanic similar to the one in Fighting Vipers. Also was ZD: Final Conflict Zero Divide 3 or was it just a Saturn exclusive spin-off title like Battle Arena Toshinden URA was?
I'm interested if anyone has more information on these games.

Well, Personally I think that Zero Divide : Final conflict should be classed as a sequel to the other two games rather than a remix. Although this is based on the new bosses rather than anything else - even the mighty Sega Saturn magazine seemed confused describing it as a semi-sequel!! Regarding the history of the game franchise and it's creators ZOOM, I'm afraid I'm as much in the dark as you are though retsub. I happen to like this game a lot, and I don't understand why it seems to attract such little attention. It's a beautiful looking game with very fast gameplay and a wealth of characters and moves. The soundtrack is pretty good too - that final game-over music is so good I actually play through it just to hear it on occasion. It definitely isn't mediocre that's for sure (apart from Dead or Alive it's easily the best 3D fighter that didn't get a western release) and even better it's regularly sold for peanuts too!! I'd recommend it to any 3D fighting fan without hesitation.

Well, you can't complain for 1 Euro can you!!?
Bear in mind though, that from my own experience both of the sequels are a good deal better than the original (No surprise really I guess!!), so don't let it put you off getting the Saturn version.

Interesting, I'm beginning to feel much better about my purchases now. Still need to get my hands on a copy of ZD2 though before I can make any real comparisons. Edit: According to this screen from the "Story Viewer" in ZD:FC, the events of ZD:FC take place after ZD2 but the arrow coming out of ZD1 & going around ZD2 suggests that ZD:FC is not ZD3 but just a side story or spin-off. So even though ZD:FC was the third game in the series, it wasn't considered important enough to be given the number 3 on its name. Planned from the start or last minute decision?

I've looked at the story screens too and I'm none the wiser either. Unfortunately we're probably going to have to wait for one of our Japanese speaking members to provide us with an answer. I was always under the impression that the story of Final Conflict involved entering the original computer system to finally destroy the 'hacked' system along with the new versions of Zulu & Xtal!! I could of course be completely wrong lol!!

Interesting, I've never heard of this one before. It looks pretty wild. I like how everything looks and sounds like your characters are made of glass. =P
These 3d fighters are going to be so much more fun when my arcade stick comes in, hopefully tomorrow.

After playing all three games I will say it's a safe bet that Final Conflict is a side story based on the designs of the 2nd PS1 game as it uses the same move lists, character models & sound effects. The only huge difference between the two is the single player mode which greatly resembles the single player from the 1st game from both a structure & progression standpoint.

Sounds like a fair assessment to me retsub - cheers!!
