Sup, I'm in a bit of a bind right now. My PAL model 2 Saturn has been unused for a few months so I decided to boot it up for some Guardian Heroes, but about 30 seconds after I switched it on it started giving off a high pitched whining sound then it turned off. As I was unplugging it to investigate I detected a strong burning smell coming from the power supply... Not a good sign. Could I just replace the fuse or does it require a whole new PSU? I thought about cannibalising one from my other model 2 system which has disc reading issues but would rather just fix it if I can. I took a picture but i'm not sure how useful it is to you.

The power supply unit on the whole can be swapped out, i'd do that

Just make sure you use the same type of power supply if you switch it out. VA1 to VA5 boards used GND GND 3.3v 5v 9v pinout (both PAL and NTSC), VA6 and above PAL boards used GND GND 5v 5v 9v, VA6 and above NTSC boards used GND GND 5v 5v.

The operation was a huge success! The transplant worked & I now have a fully functional PAL system again.
Luckily the spare PSU was exactly the same as the broken one so I didn't have to worry about frying the motherboard. Hopefully this will give it at least a year or two of new life.

Sorry to bump this again but I am looking to transfer my PAL PSU to my JP Saturn but afraid I might fry it. Nothing wrong with the JP Saturn. It's just that the laser in the PAL Saturn is dead but the PSU is fine and JP Saturn needs a stepdown transformer. So if I could do a swap, that would be amazing. They are both model 2's. JP Saturn: Model No HST-3210 | Serial: AE51044769 PAL Saturn: Model No MK 80200-03 | Serial: 050052676
Can it happen? And is there a video tutorial on how to do it? Thanks.

You can't swap those; while they output the same voltages, the PAL saturn is a VA0 model with a top mounted power supply. It physically won't fit in the other machine.
