Didn't even realise I had gun griffon in my collection. Must have picked it up years ago and forgotten about it. Playing it tonight it seems like a very accomplished game.. But the controls are very hard to master. I take it needs the twin sticks to play well?
Anyone like this game? And also can it be played well on a normal controller?
It has a Japan only sequel as well.. Is it playable without Japanese knowledge? And is it any good.
Thanks guys

You don't need to learn Japanese, its avaliable in PAL land. Its a great game. Completed it twice with a normal model 2 controller. It might be tricky to play the JPN version as the mission objectives are different each mission unless the JPN version still displays english text in the objectives. I don't think it can be played with twin sticks but if it can, I can't see it being better than a model 2 controller. I believe the Gun Griffon 2 might be compatiable with the sticks though. Definitley within the top 15 PAL Saturn games.

I believe only the Gun griffon 2 had the Twin Stick support. Like Gundam Side Story 1 missed out and only 2 and 3 supported the Twin Stick.

I've played it a little more. Once you get used to the controls it really is fantastic. I love the sprite explosions as well! Gives it a really unique style

No you can just pick it up and play. Once you get used to the controls it is pretty good. The sequel looks like it can be played with little Japanese knowledge from the YouTube video I've seen of it. I'll definitely hunt gun griffon 2 down.. It supports the Saturn link cable apparently

Gungriffon is a series I happen to own every game in (not difficult since there's 4 games) I bought GG2 from an ebayer in Japan; took about a week to get here, absolutely chuffed with it. Arguably the best game in the series! Know it's not Saturn-related, but the PS2 game is also fun
