I couldn't make myself into PDS, because the very first hour of the game was... I don't know how to say it to not hurt anyone, but... it just didn't have a click on me. So after a first hour of gameplay i threw it away from my console. As to the Grandia... I wish there was a fan translation injected in the game itself so i could play it without having scripts opened. Shining Force 3... I need to finish Shining The Holy Ark first, before i start the new journey

did you play the other 2 scenarios as well? I have actually not even played the 2/3 S yet which is why I consider it so impressive that even the 1st part is worthy of stand alone praise. I have the translations burned and ready to play. I also own the original JPN versions just for the shelf aesthetic. Ive been itching to play these for so damn long. Even have them displayed in the collection. Bultje112 I know you dont like US coverarts (and I complete disagree with you in that respect but to each his own) but I personally far prefer that SOA used the original Scenario 1 art on the box than the PAL one. Although there is 0 wrong with that one either. Nice hand drawn characters. I just love the original red/purple bright cover that they made for the JPN release. Really makes you wish the other 2 had come over just so we could have 3 separate cases to display. At some point I plan on making some custom blown up artwork using the S2 and S3 covers. But Ill save that until after I actually play through them finally! The guys over at the Translation project made some nice US art years ago that I might use. Ive seen some people on Ebay even selling S2 and S3 PAL cases which don't look too shabby. By yeah even with just the 1st scenario only played, I definitely fell in love with it. Ive been also trying to find the JPN posters for all 3 games. So far was only able to get the S3 poster years ago off Ebay. I check JPN auction sites for any SFIII merch but unfortunately doesn't look like they made much other than the art/guide books. I always thought saga to be superior to shining force 3. until I played the other 2 scenarios. they are even better than scenario 1 and have some mega plot twists. third scenario imo is the best and also the longest by quite a bit. and you prefer this: over this: ?

So after a first hour of gameplay i threw it away from my console. As a huge advocate of PDS, it pains me to read this, but it's completely understandable. The first few hours of the game are a bit bland in comparison to what lies ahead. I had similar resevations on my first playthrough, but the opening movies and high praise of SSM made me keep going. It's only once you reach Garil Desert and the Caravan that things start to pick up. I encourage you to give it another try and be more forgiving of its shortcomings early on. It pays off the deeper you get into the story.

I've decided to go with Shining Force 3 (assuming we're talking about all the games). The main factor which won it for me over PDS was the fact PDS was too short. Also, Shining Force 3 is more friendly from a casual playing experience. I didn't have a great deal of time to play games towards the end of last year. However, I focused it all on playing through all of SF3 plus the Premium Disc which took 8 months. I liked the fact I was able to divide my playing sessions to one battle per session, and could save during the middle of a battle if I so wished. My only complaint was the fact that too much grinding was required at the end of Scenario 3. Mainly because I needed to power level a team that would be strong enough to take on the Premium disc.

The opening of panzer dragoon saga is so stunning to this day, but also back in the day that I couldn't stop playing. the storyline is INCREDIBLE challenging the true laws of the quantum mechanics and throwing me off with the best ending of anything I've ever been a part of.

Wasn't the intro of PDS a cutscene for quite a while? Then he walks through a hall until he meets the dragon?
OK, 1990's CGI isn't very exciting, and there was too much foreshadowing with not enough introduction of the characters. Once I got to the canyon with the water, the dark skies, the swimming and jumping fish, along with the first taste of combat!
I was sold.
I thought it was so beautiful and impressive. I've given up on the tedium of turnbased combat quite some time ago, but PDS, even back in the 90's, eliminated grinding and turned each fight into its own puzzle.

This was the hardest to vote on. I absolutely love Shining Force 3. I didn't realise how much until I played it recently. Grandia has a very solid story and an exceptional battle sequence and in many ways is best looking of the 3. Some of the town sections and spells cast during battles are stunning to look at. However the individual personalities of characters transfers better in the other two games.
PDS is outstanding to me. I have very good memories playing this over and over again. Certain sections made me either gulp, overly excited or feel an element of sadness. Had I experienced scenario 2 and 3 there's a good chance that the SF series would have taken my vote. However on this day I gotta back PDS. I think the replay value is the strongest of the 3.

It was hard not to vote for it as it was fresh in my mind having completed the Saturn version only a few months back but PDS just edged it for me. I'm glad you voted for it though as it so didn't deserve to be on no votes.

I even love the cheesy English voice track! :3 Have you played Grandia Museum on Saturn?

As much as I didn't mind sitting through the Saturn version with translations scripts I'm in no rush to do it again for awhile if I'm honest. That's if the dialogue is as heavy as the first game.

You can just use the Google Translate photo thing that converts it in real time. The outcome may not be the greatest. It was hit and miss when I used to do that before starting to actually learn some basic Japanese. Also, Grandia is available on PS1 in English. The graphics are a little inferior on PS1, but that's about it.

I will probably play Grandia Museum one day. I have a PS3 now so maybe I'll find it on the ps3 store. Even though I'm not keen on the PS1 Version I did buy it from the PS3 store.
