Okay so we have 1 PAL exclusive, 1 US exclusive and 1 JPN exclusive. Which will it be Astal, Keio 2 Flying Squadron or Silhouette Mirage? Pick one and explain below ASTALKEIO 2 FLYING SQUADRONSILHOUETTE MIRAGE

Great poll, it really comes down to Flying Squadron and Silhouette Mirage for me. Astal is just pure eye candy with completely shallow and garbage gameplay.
I'm going to go with Flying Squadron because I've played more of it.

Ive only played the US Working Designs Shilloutte Mirage on PS1 and they just changed toooo much stuff for me to fairly rate it. All 3 releases are nice but
ASTAL all the way here.
One of the best looking games on the system and a really good platformer as well. A little slower/strategic than the usual game in the genre but I love using the attacks that involve your bird sidekick. Soundtrack is also great with a cute little story line tossed in. A very nice early release that really showed off the systems 2D power (Magic Knight Rayearth as well) before everyone started going 3D.

Astal unfortunately saturn is lacking here. Id honestly say try rush deppy if it wasn't rare and everyone or mostly everyone has played it. Astal is good don't like the throw attack always found it odd. Also silhouette mirage would be a great game but the switching between red and blue I get it but it's more irritating then anything. They should have made it just red or blue or red was a special and blue a standard attack. It's confusing with many enemies on screen and sometimes I forget which is which. They are identified by color but not always.
Or no super tempo is best ashame it's rare.

Try rush deppy is good id say it's uniqueness is like rayman. It's more traditional you can jump on enemies or ram them. However the gas in the game goes quick in later levels it's hard to keep up.

Of the 3 Astal is the weakest. The gameplay mechanics feel as if they belong to the 16 bit era. There's a couple of levels inparticular that really grates on me, where all your doing is jumping from platform to platform which is pretty lame.
Nice to look at but not necessarily fUn to play.
I really like Silhouette Mirage and spent many nights in my teens playing it but for me the clear winner is Keio Flying Squadron, it's not your typical platformer, it's got so many elements to it and is actually a lot of fun to play.

I agree it's a shame it's too expensive for alot of folk to experience. Tryrush Deppy is also excellent. I actually don't think it's rated enough. It's a very clever plat form game with tons to explore. Probably my third favorite after Mr. Bones.

More like the early transition to the 16 bit era. Most levels hardly have a Y axis and the hit boxes are huge.

The flow isn't for everyone. I personally am on the love side of the love/hate for that aspect. My only real gripe is it's length. Short. I feel once you get over the heavy feel of the characters its quite unique. But thats just me.

I wanted to like Silhouette Mirage but the language barrier prevented me from enjoying and understanding it.
Astal is a beautiful game to look at and the soundtrack is brilliant. But the gameplay is far too simple. Some of the boss designs, like the eye, are fantastic. I love level 2 for the atmosphere and background music and levels 4 and 5, but beyond the second boss, the levels become bland and the game becomes a bit frustrating. The bird attack seems too much like a gimmick too. So much potential but not enough substance.
Keio Flying Squadron 2 is a beautiful game to look at and the gameplay has just the right amount of variety. The soundtrack is hit and miss but suits the game. And I love the quirky, comedic story and villains too. I wish there were a few more shooting stages though. Still, an enjoyable, if frustrating at times, game. It gets my vote easily.

The problem here is Silhouette Mirage should run away with this one had it gotten an English release. In the US we got an English release but like I said WD had to butcher so much of it that its hard to get into.

Silhouette Mirage is great from what I've played but I haven't really played enough of it to feel like I could give it my vote. Regardless it's hard to go wrong with Treasure and I've always loved their platformers (Dynamite Headdy and Mischief Makers being two of my favourite games of all time). I feel like it would be the most likely winner though.
Astal I also haven't played much of, but unlike Silhouette Mirage I don't feel any desire to go back at all. I tried a couple of times but the entire game felt really off. Is it a platformer? Not really, platforming is minimal and you're mainly just going along a straight line avoiding hazards and beating up enemies with any actual platforming being minimal and simplistic. Is it a beat-em-up then? I don't think so either because the attacks are all really floaty and unsatisfying. I hated how your primary attack was throwing enemies behind you since as I mentioned before it gave the game a very floaty feel, but also because it felt like such a missed opportunity. Why not give me control over where I can throw so then I can throw enemies into each other to do more damage? I get the vibe that the idea behind Astal's attacks was to have a wide range of situational moves for different enemy formations, but when none of them are fun or satisfying to use it's pretty much for naught and just makes the game feel a lot more limited when it's clear that the game wants you to use a different specific attack for each enemy formation. I feel like I didn't give it much of a chance and it could get better, but it didn't give me much of a reason to want to continue and given how short the game is anyway I don't think it would of had much more of a chance to impress me.
Keio I still really want to play to this day, have never owned it. I dunno if it would top Silhouette but it looks charming and fun regardless.

I've gone with keio, it has nice graphics and good varied gameplay. I like the mix of platform and shooter.
I haven't played mirage, but I get the feeling as a fan of treasure (I own nearly all their games) I may be a little underwhelmed, gameplay wise. Jp too easy, pal unplayable apparently
Astal has never appealed to me. But I should give it a go at some point.
