Okay the polls are back. Here we have 3 very unique platform Saturn games with huge cult followings and a powerful fan base originating back to the mid 80s. You wouldn't believe the Castlevania franchise in 31 years old (1986), Mega Man is 30 years old (1987) and Sonic is 26 years old (1991). But which of the 3 franchises did you prefer on the Saturn: Will it be Mega Man x 4, Castlevania Symphony of the Night or Sonic 3D Blast: Flickies Island? Pick one and list your reasons why below in the comments. CASTLEVANIA SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHTMEGAMAN X 4SONIC 3D BLAST

This poll is not fair Sonic 3D Blast might have a hard time in this one but its a personal Top 10 Saturn title and always will be. Mega Man x4 is fantastic. True 32 bit upgrade to the series with RPG elements. SOTN is a great game but not particularly the Saturn version so this a hard poll overall. I have to go 3D Blast even though the best version of a true Saturn game is Mega Man x4.

X4 is my favourite Mega Man game and second favourite game on the Saturn, only topped by NiGHTS. I adore it, the super tight controls and fast-paced action make it a joy, and the addition of Zero as a fully playable character is fantastic, it's just as fun to play a second time as Zero since he plays so differently. The beautiful pixelart and soundtrack are just the icing on the cake.
Symphony of the Night is a classic, but the slowdown on the Saturn port prevents me from saying it's one of the best on the system. Never played the Saturn port of Sonic 3D unfortunately but I never thought much of the Megadrive version. It's not bad but it's pretty dull and gets draining super fast which is a big issue since the game is pretty long and has no save feature.

This has shocked me as I only got it recently. Knowing now that I have to complete it all in one sitting has knocked the wind out of my sail. I agree with you on Castlevania. I actually really like the game and don't mind the slowdown. I feel like I'm cheating if I use Maria. The main issue with the game for me is I get bored pretty quickly after maybe an hour of it. Mega Man X 4 definitely gets my vote. Such and awesome and extremley challenging game. Maybe a bit too hard for me but I'm never bored wholst playing it. Thank goodness it has save points too. Zero is so ace as well.

sych you should fix the title to say x4 not x3
I feel like x4 once again gets a bit hurt by not having a PAL release in the poll (although you 2 guys are from said region)

sadly I haven't played Mega Man X4 , but I did play the other 2. its a fairly easy choice for me, SOTN is a lousy port of a great game ,Sonic3D Blast is a mediocre port (in the same class as Resident Evil 2 on Dreamcast) of a mundane game.

It literally upgrades in every way (sans loading) the reason I say its a mediocre port is that while it does look better than the MD original , its still quite bland looking for a 2D game on the Saturn, the one exception being the special stages. hence why I compared it to RE2 on the Dreamcast, that game too, while looking nicer and sharper than its previous gen counterparts, isn't great for the system its running on. obviously there is only so much you can do with the source material and thats understandable.

SOTN and X4 are better games, but I voted for Sonic 3D because despite being an average game, I had fun with it and love Richard Jacques' soundtrack. Plus I feel sorry for it going up against two Saturn stalwarts.

It's between SotN and Sonic 3d for me. I don't like Megaman games. The Saturn port of SotN isn't the best, so I usually try to forget it exists. I used to look down upon Sonic 3d, but it's really a lot better than people give it credit for. When people say it's mediocre, it's only mediocre comparing it to the original Sonic titles. A lot of people simply don't like iso platformers, which is fine, but as far as iso platformers go, it's really quite good.

Especially since it was seen as more of a filler for the delays on Xtreme. Every time I play 3D Blast, which is once or twice a year, I blow through it quite quickly. The controls are zero issue for me, the iso camera same. The Jacques soundtrack is simply a pleasure and something I listen to even when not playing it. Diamond Dust and Rusty Ruin always on repeat. The added fog and weather effects does more than people give it credit for. To me that and the soundtrack completely change the game from the Genesis release. It was also released over here just before Xmas 96 and I got it with my Saturn that year so added nostalgia never hurts.

I'm going with MegaMan X4 here. Mostly because it is a really nice game and I don't have the other two games. I do have Castlevania on the PS1 though and it is fantastic.
