Not aware of any issues using Wii and RGB, but component gives you 480p which is better anyway. Might depend on how you have set up the wii tv type too and on the OSSC I had to change the 480p /577p proc to passthru in output opt. Muramasa the demon blade intro - wii via component. No scanlines

Pass-though is the default option, 480p line double compatibility cannot be guaranteed.

I am agree with all: Csync from retracable UK is better solution with OSSC. Can I advice 2 HDTV, very nice 480p treatment HDMI and zero lag: linklinkI have the first since 2013. Dont compatible with x3 or x5 exotic resolution about OSSC, but x2 (480p) it's so nice with this TV.

Hi there, interesting post, could you help me please? I want to buy one of this OSSC for my Saturn, PSX/2 (trought PS2 system) and Wii (GameCube, snes, md), Pal all of them since i live in Europe. I have my original scart cable for my Saturn and i want to play it on my Sony Bravia. Do you recomend this to me? Will i have any issue if i want to record some gameplays using a Avermedia Game Capture HD II?. It seems to give excellent results in led tv. I recommend it. It's better, faster and cheaper. For all old school console (some issue with super Nintendo). For PS2 no need, you can USE GSM homebrew and official component for 480p and more. Only some of game can be forced with 480P. For the wii, except some VC game, the component official is the best, especially for Gamecube and Wii Game. I use Avermedia Game Capture HD II without issue. Wonderful.

update: The official SCART cable that shipped with Saturns works perfect with the OSSC. The c-sync ones that use a built in sync splitter also works, but they have weaker sync signal. This is only evident on some setups however. For me they only make a difference if I hook up a VGA converter to the OSSC, where the image gets a bit more wrinkly. They also don't work in the Hi-Vision 480p output of the machine (while the official cable does), but no software ever used that mode so this doesn't matter. I tried a no-name random cable from ebay (came with one of the consoles I bought once), and that also works fine. noticed another issue now.. which needs some investigating. I don't know if the Saturn has issues with jailbars but there are some vertical lines that I noticed on some of my pics. Kurosawa's suit below it really shows. Going to reset to the factory settings but I did a lot of messing around with the OSSC. Got it sorted. I was playing around with the sampling phase I noticed this too. Certain Saturn games (ie. most of the better ones...) run in a 352x240 or 704x480 mode. The OSSC in generic 4:3 mode does not sample enough pixels for these, so you get sort of jailbars. They are not really jailbars, more like Moiré patterns caused by incorrect scaling, and they are the most visible in the checkerbox patterns that lots of games use. To get rid of these, I set the thing to 320x240 mode and then edited the profile to have a sampling phase of 455 (for low-res games) or 910 (for hi-res games). However this can also get your image off-centered depending on your TV, and it will makes games actually running in 320 / 640 px mode to look too stretched out... There's no auto switch for this. You can also use Line3x or Line4x, which will eliminate this, but with those you have an incorrect aspect ratio. edit: also, if you use Line3x or 4x, there's an option called upsample2x which in my experience improves the image quite a lot.

H.samplerate 455 seems a bit much, 427 should do the trick.
You can use the H.Backporch setting to re-centre the image if necessary (works on most displays).
Line 3x should have the correct aspect ratio if your TV sees it as 720p.

Has anybody of experience with the rbg scart cables from www.consolegoods.co.uk/?I am using a simple av cable for saturn now, but I will also get an OSSC for my Saturn, Dreamcast and Gamecube in March. I want to get the best image quality of all of my consoles so I was researching. It seems for the Saturn RBG Scart is the best option and while searching for a nice cable I found console goods uk. The scart cable is quite cheap. Cheaper than the Retro Gaming cables www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/CSYNC-RGB-SCART-CABLES/Mega-Drive-CSYNC/sega-saturn-rgb-av-scart-ntsc-cable-tv-lead-cord-for-saleSo I wonder how well the console good cables are made when compared with the retro gaming cables. I want to have the best quality cable possible so I would not mind to pay the price of the retro gaming cables. But If can similar quality at a lower price I would not be sad either.

Last time I got cables from Rob Webb, they were simple cables with little/no shielding. They work fine, but you'll get audio buzzing.
CSync is not required for OSSC.
If you want the best possible picture, you'd be better off replacing the caps and EMI filters in the system. I did that and the colours improved considerably (no matter which rgb scart cable I used).
