Okay the main event this week is a 4 Way duel. Run 'n' Gun/Slash part 2. Which will it be: Crusader No Remorse, Elevator Action Returns, Scud The Disposable Assasin or Skeleton Warriors? Pick ONE and list your reasons why below. SCUD: THE DISPOSABLE ASSASSINCRUSADER NO REMORSEELEVATOR ACTION RETURNSSKELETON WARRIORS

Wow, I thought Elevator Action was an updated Spy vs Spy. It looks -really- good. I'll have to give it a second look.
Skeleton Warriors looks awesome. I never knew it even existed. Thanks!
I think I played Scud before and it felt shallow.
Crusader is really out of place in this poll. The other games are side scrolling action platformers. Crusader is an iso game more akin to Fallout Tactics, IIRC. Being an Origin game that used the Ultima 8 engine; I really wanted to like Crusader. It has a strong cult following and for good reason. The puzzles and world building are really well done. To me, the controls were just too clunky. It's been a long-long time, and I know I owned the Saturn version at one point, but I'm not sure if that's the version I played.

EAR! Just got this recently and it's one of the best games on the system. I seriously am shocked I hadn't realised this fact sooner.
haven't played the other games here, skeleton warriors looks interesting.

I haven't played any of these on Saturn, but I've played Elevator Action Returns on Taito Legends and Crusader on PC. Honestly I don't particularly like either of them, but I can still easily say that Elevator Action Returns is the better game. It's good, just better suited to arcades due to it being simplistic and very repetitive with every level being built around the same elevator stage gimmick with the exact same sized corridors. Crusader is just a cumbersome pain in the neck with bad controls, UI and collision detection where even pressing a switch is a struggle.
I haven't played Scud but it actually looks pretty decent at first glance at the Youtube video, although I'm not sure if it's just because the person playing is struggling with the game a bit but it looks like Scud is too big a target and not quite quick and nimble enough to deal with the massive amounts of fast enemies the game throws at you. Specifically there was one point where three enemies suddenly dropped down on Scud at once and it looked like there was no way to avoid taking damage from that unless you knew it was coming in advance. I could imagine it being a bit repetitive and overly simplistic like Elevator Action Returns but I feel like using the light gun would help liven things up.

Scud is the worst Even worse with a light gun. Wayyyyyyyyy too many enemies when using the light gun. The side scrolling version is fun with a buddy for like 10 mins. Until you get stuck in the level with the halls and the rats. Then you turn it off and forget this game ever existed. Least thats how I feel about it. And I have tried to like this one.

I finally got a CIB copy of SCUD. A couple members on here seem to praise it. Mik or mick might have, I get them confused It was a weird release. Saturn exclusive based on a comic that wasn't even that well known. Ill have to finally give it a proper play. Crusader No Remorse is a solid iso action/adventure title. Was always on my radar back in the day. I may have to vote for that currently until I play more of EAR.

I still never got past that level I was stuck on during the community playthrough. If you never finished it we should do another playthrough. This time I will actually finish it haha.

I'm definitley in the minority here but I really don't like Elevator Action returns. I had this game for over 10 years at one point and realised I'd only played it a handful of times and in short bursts because I didn't like it. After the 2nd level, I just lose interest. It's another Saturn game which I find extremley tedious. Graphic don't help either but that is to be expected as it was an update of a previous gen game but it still never held up well in my book.
I going to vote for Scud as it's a game I actually enjoy playing from time to time. A tough challenge of a game but fair. Once you work out the formula for dispatching enemies quickly and power up your gun, its becomes even more fun. I've never played the other two although Crusader No Remorse has peaked my interest.

I think , if I remember, I got stuck in the same spot during that! So no, never completed it. Im on board for another play. Also if I recall, martinii was heading up that play... a member who hasn't been around in quite a while.

Martinii was heading up the Crusader playthrough, and many of the other ones as well. I wonder what happened to him as he was quite active for a long time. Sweet. We should totally start another playthrough of Crusader then. I'm pretty swamped this week and next but I could start pretty much anytime after that.

EAR by a mile here. Crusader is a nice looking but tedious game to play. I've tried Scud a few times. The last after Mick's recommendation but never could get into it.
