Just joined thought it would be rude not to say Hello! I'm new to the Saturn (relatively) i picked one up from someone in my village clearing our their loft a year a go rather than the 90's when it first launched. I knew one person at school that had one as a kid so never really had any exposure to them until now. I had a Mega Drive for the majority of the 90's followed by, i'm sorry to say to this crowd, a Playstation (boo hisss), so the Saturn basically passed me by. However the Saturn has become my favourite system full stop. I have got a nice collection going and plenty more games i want to get my teeth into over time. Im hoping to try and get it online with a Raspberry Pi at some stage too (along with my Dreamcast). Anyway saw this forum thought i'd get involved a bit with others that love the system too. Ta.

Welcome to the forums! What are some of your favourite games in your collection so far? And don't worry, alot of us are fans of the playstation here as well , and many (including myself) did not have the Saturn when it first came out, but picked one up much later and realized how great it is.

My favourite is Sega Rally with the Arcade racer peripheral. Closely followed by Panzer Dragoon Zwei. I have to say I enjoy playing Duke Nukem 3D on the Saturn and I think that is mostly due to how impressed I am with how the Saturn copes with the graphics.

You will find a lot of people here aren't exclusive Saturn fanboys. Nintendo, Atari and co. are well represented here too.

Davyk is correct. I grew up with the NES, N64, Game Boy and PS1 in addition to Saturn and Genesis/MD so its non-biased nostalgia.

I never had a console until I was 11 or so , I played games mainly on a PC , so nostalgia is a minor factor (maybe nostalgia for a certain type of gameplay, but not for the system per se)
welcome.

The Atari 2600 didn't appear until I was 11 !!! Feeling old now. Love the 2600 - still have one - was actually playing a few quick games on it last night. Was testing a PAL60 homebrew game on a PAL TV for a developer at atariage.com

Would have tried to get it, but sadly I think its been thrown out years ago (can't blame my grandparents , they would have considered it old junk) by gaming terms Im not the youngest either, when I was born the newest major console in Europe was the Master System. puts me in the odd position of not being old enough to remember the height of the arcade , or 80s gaming , but still old enough to have gone to the arcades to play stuff like Mortal Kombat III , or playing the Mega Drive when it was still current. whether that makes me old by gaming terms Im not sure

Good to hear this is a nice diverse community! My retro obsession started just over a year ago and i started to gather back the old systems i used to have OR the systems i was aware of but wasn't able to have as a kid due to expense. Loving the nostalgia but equally discovering some new(old) stuff.
From what i can remember my gaming history went something like:
- Mega Drive - PC with an Intel Pentium P100...running Win 3.1 - Game Boy Classic - PlayStation - Dreamcast - PlayStation 2 - GameBoy Advance - GameCube - PlayStation 3 - Xbox 360 - Playstation 4
Various PCs as time went on but first one was memorable.
Favourite of that lot - Dreamcast all the way. I think Saturn trumps it for me now since discovering it.

I as well ventured into the PC realm. I did casual PC gaming in 94 and on. Around 1999 is when I became heavy into PC gaming, modding, mapping, clans etc etc.

I was a big RTS fan so that was most of my PC gaming which was kicked off by Red Alert and Tiberian Sun I played every release and did lan matches with friends at local Cyber Cafe. Red Laert 2 was the first game I ever played online. I still love playing hose games Crystal Caves was my first PC game. And I had Doom when it came out which blew me away at the time and still one of my all time favs

the first games I played on the PC were Golden Axe, Prince of Persia, TMNT2 and a few others like Blues Brothers, that would have been around 1992 or so.
The first computer I actually owned (as opposed to just playing one that my dad or grandparents owned) was a Pentium Pro 166 machine. PPro was the predecessor to the Pentium II that was released in 1995 and ended up mostly as a workstation/server CPU (it was the first to use the P6 core, but it ended up being very expensive) I played alot of C&C , Starcraft , and Tiberian Sun on it , it could even run games like Tomb Raider II and Thief in software mode due to the PPro being an excellent chip for 3D apps.

Really need to get me on of those Arcade Racers. Just so expensive to ship from somewhere. Also, looking at your other posts in this thread you like many of us here have played a ton of games on a diverse amount of consoles. I can never get into PC gaming though. The whole thing just drives me bonkers.

StarCraft deserved an honourable mention I can’t believe I left that one out
