My Old Trusty is no longer working properly

I turned my Saturn on the first time in 6+ months last week, tried to play Die Hard Arcade and now it behaves like the start button is being constantly pressed even though no one is touching it. If I disconnect the controller, it stops. But then plug it in and the game pauses all the time. I thought it was faulty controller but my other controller does the same thing.
If I plug those same controllers into another Saturn - problem. The controllers work fine.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a problem with the port.
