Rumours of the upcoming Resident Evil 2 remake, plus the ongoing trend of dredging up old games, got me thinking. How many Saturn games really are marooned on the system, in need of a remaster/remake?
I've not included the following as I'm aware of existing remastered versions or sequels in recent years that stick to the original formula: Daytona USA, Virtua Fighter, Nights into Dreams, Radiant Silvergun, Guardian Heroes, Sega Rally, Sonic R, Capcom & SNK fighters, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, House of the Dead, Princess Crown (Odin Sphere has a different story but is basically a modern version).

P.s. I've left out 2D shooters and other 2D titles as arguably they are perfect as they are. Feel free to disagree.

Burning Rangers, especially if it were properly finished.
Enemy Zero, but as a VR experience.
And my other would be Deep Fear.

Burning Rangers definitely. Its such an awesome ambitious game. I love the Saturn version for what it is but would love to see that world remade with newer technology.
Shining Force III would be next. A nice upgrade of all 3 scenarios in English would be awesome.

Well I should bloody well hope a Burning Rangers HD remake would be fully finished hehe. I voted for that too. Enemy Zero in VR would be awesome and terrifying. I forgot to include Deep Fear, great shout. There aren't any other underwater mutant Survival Horrors I can think of!

PD Zwei for me.
Didn't get a chance to try Orta on the original Xbox. Long overdue.

I'd like to see Panzer Dragoon and Zwei remade as a single package, giving us the opportunity to play the original versions but also giving us new versions with better graphics and new content, like extra levels and arrange modes that gives us new enemy placements that keep the games fresh.
Obviously I'd love to see Saga remade.
Burning Rangers with all new levels and modern graphics would be awesome too.
And a full translation of all three SFIII is essential.

I'd love to see a remastering specialist like Bluepoint Games have a crack at the original Panzer Dragoon trilogy, Burning Rangers or the complete Shining Force III, but it's clear that Sega has little interest in revisiting these games (all from the later part of the Saturn's life, curiously enough), presumably because of the effort they'd require to update for a modern audience - just how many times they can keep repackaging the same handful of Mega Drive titles remains to be seen...

Yes, Sonic, Streets of Rage et al are great titles but ridiculously I just heard they're coming out for PS4 soon (in addition to existing compilations on the likes of PC, Mobile, Wii, Xbox, PS2, PS3 and numerous cheap mini consoles). With some decent marketing the late Saturn titles must be worth remaking. They're fundamentally excellently made games. Chuck in some trophies, DLC and multiplayer and whatever other nonsense today's market demands!

I would have to choose Saga. It is arguably the best game on the Saturn, and the most un-accessible. It's such an amazing game, and I really wish more people would have the opportunity to experience it. Seriously, even just technically, Saga is an amazing feat. When I first played it, I was surprised what I was seeing was coming from a Saturn. Too much love went into the game for it to be forgotten. A remake seems like the best way to display it's excellence to the world. Throwing in the other two PD games would be a nice bonus.

Saga. Could go down two routes:
1) Indie-ish style remake that updates the graphics but keeps the linear format. Hopefully they wouldn't re-record the voice acting with appalling English/American actors, but no doubt they would.
2) Full blown open world adventure that follows the same plot. Hopefully combat would remain the same and there'd be no Witcher-style hack 'n' slash. Again, inevitable.
I think I'd prefer the first option, as I like the fact that PDS is so fast-paced.
The gameplay also hasn't dated *too* much. I don't think you can say the same for e.g. FFVII, which should definitely be more enjoyable to play than the original if done properly.

Remake Burning Rangers? Heck yes. If ever a game needed a remake, that is it. Fix the stupid interfering camera, get rid of all those confusing graphical glitches, program in a voice navigation system that actually works, make it so the third and fourth bosses' attacks can actually hurt your character, add enough stages so the game can't be finished in two hours, and give us some in-game music. Oh, and if you can find the time, make the fire capable of spreading and otherwise behaving like an actual threat, rather than the equivalent of the television sets in Sonic the Hedgehog that give you items when you bust them. Do all that and you'd have one fine game on your hands.
Die Hard Arcade gets a distant second. While I love the game as it is, I feel like it would really benefit from having a modern polished graphical look instead of the rough and blocky tone, and it certainly has room for more stages.
Honorable mention (since it's not mentioned in the poll) goes to Virtual Hydlide. An interesting action RPG that would benefit from some rebalancing, a smoother frame rate, and maybe a couple extra abilities to make combat more complex.

Not for modern consoles, but id love to see Daytona USA redone for the Saturn the way it shouldve been, as in redo the genuine original version that was on the Saturn, not the crap that came out later that doesnt even look anything like Daytona.

what wasn't finished about burning rangers? Sonic Team had originally planned to include a co-operative mode, which could be seen in some of the earliest preview builds (along with a handful of leftover audio files on the game disc that confirm the existence of such a feature), but then development was restarted after months of work had already been put in. My understanding is that Sega gave a deadline to all remaining software producers, meaning that no new games would be released for the Saturn in Europe after mid-1998. Not wanting such a high profile title to remain import-only, it's claimed that the end product was somewhat rushed - as was The House Of The Dead - to arrive before the cut-off point, meaning that a lot of the intended content wasn't able to be implemented. I've long since forgotten the source for this, but I'm sure it was also mentioned somewhere that there were supposed to be a lot more than just the four levels we ultimately got, with the randomly generating stage idea something that was added later to provide desperately-needed longevity. Ideally, it would have made a lot more sense for Burning Rangers to join Sonic Adventure in being carried over to the Dreamcast, though I'm not sure Sonic Team might have wanted to concentrate on finishing this over their mascot's long-awaited comeback, even if it could have done with the additional graphical power Sega's 128-bit console offered. Saying that, wasn't the Hikaru board created purely because the standard Dreamcast-based NAOMI platform had issues drawing realistic fire and water effects? I seem to recall it being suggested that despite providing massive improvements in most departments, fill rate on the Dreamcast still wasn't ideal for transparencies, which may explain why certain glass-filled areas in Shenmue II are prone to huge amounts of slowdown...
