have you tried a different cable? sometimes the cable itself can be broken, whether the wiring or the pins.

I don't have another cable I'll have to get another, the cable itself appears to be in good shape. I plugged my Genesis rf unit into the ant in section and it works with audio. Still could be the pins or lower portion of cable I suppose. Any other things I can try while I order new cable?

Have you made sure all the pins in the console connector are aligned properly?
I've found before that my they can bend quite easily.
If you haven't already, I'd highly recommend buying something other than an RF cable; RGB SCART for best results.

you could also try to open the system to see if anything is broken, but if you don't know what you are doing it can be risky, so Id suggest trying a different cable.
and yes, throw RF in the rubbish and get something better, at least S-video , games will look much better when they don't look like the screen is covered in butter.

I Would use a pair of paper clips to make temporary connection pairing ground and both audio channels in turn to an amplified speaker then turning on Saturn and listening for the start-up tune, to save buying an unneeded cable.
