As I don't buy PAL Saturn games for myself any more and only occasionally pick things up for friends, I've been slightly out of the loop on price increases as of late, and wow! So Deep Fear actually SELLING for £200 more than I paid for my last copy around 5 years ago:
Many more completed listings where its sold for similar prices. The ever sought after PD Saga after hovering around the £100-£150 mark for years... £400!
Starting to think I should probably keep my PAL collection inside a safe So do we think these prices are just going to keep going more and more batshit insane, or will there be a thunderous crash at some point?

I assume as that's in $ that's referring to US games, which I agree has been far more consistent, this was pointing out that PAL Saturn games have shot up insanely.
Going by that same timeline since 2010 when I was buying a lot, PD saga has gone from £80-£100 to £350-£400, Deep Fear from around £30 to £200, SF collection £80-£100 up to £180-£200, Megaman X3 from around £50-£70 up to £200, Keio 2 Flying Squadron up from around the £50 mark up to £200, Three Dirty Dwarves from around £30 up to £100+, Shinbo X I paid £25 for in 2012 now well over the £100 mark, Burning Rangers up by £100, Bomberman up from around £40 to £100+ etc. etc.
While JP and US prices are slightly up over that period PAL titles have seen an incredible rise in value.

The big heavy hitters in the US market have really gone up. I remember when I started collecting in 2011 PDS was about 200$ Canadian. Now I routinely see it go anywhere between 600 and 1000$!!!
Burning rangers and some of the other titles have shot up too. So much so that I don't even bother looking at them anymore.
The common game prices are still pretty consistent, but any of the so called "rare" game has shot up immensely.

My PAL collection is up to 48 games since Crypt Killer for example is cheaper than the NA version. Torico is half the price of Lunacy.
But yeah, the PAL games price is up in general from what I've seen.
Mick didn't you pickup Daytona Netlink for $50ish. I thought you mentioned it when I spent $1100 for the copy I used to own.

The most rare and valuable PAL games really took off in 2016 after the Brexit vote and GBP currency fall. I sold my Street Fighter Collection for £275, and Keio 2 and Swagman for over £200 each in summer 2016. Not saying PAL £ prices aren't ridiculous, they are, but they've been crazy for at least a couple of years.
One thing to bear in mind is that 'sold' eBay listings that were not paid for still show up as paid. Always check it was not relisted before taking a high price sale as accurate. I know this is true as some moron kept over bidding one of my own auctions then closing his account immediately. It shows in the sold list still.

I've long since given up trying to make sense of Saturn game prices on eBay in particular, as I sold my once prized PAL edition of Deep Fear a few years back (which is not a decision I made lightly - my personal circumstances were very difficult for a while), only to find the same copy trading hands between a small number of European collectors, each time its value increasing significantly beyond the £100 that I managed to sell it for. After discussing this pattern with a few other people, I came to the conclusion that a select group might be looking to inflate the market by using a handful of visible yet rare titles, each of its members pocketing a little extra profit in the process with each cycle. In addition to my "watermarked" Deep Fear, featuring an imperfection that I deliberately introduced to help identify this later on, I've seen a Panzer Dragoon Saga with the same worn outer case doing the rounds as well, not to mention someone's Burning Rangers that has a similarly distinctive cosmetic detail. I won't say any more, but I'm hoping those responsible will find it harder to continue making further ridiculous amounts from this activity now SD card solutions are quickly becoming a reality. Then again, I've just seen a console with the Rhea mod installed, and the asking price is an absolutely astronomical £750, so perhaps the problem is worse than ever? ...and you wonder why I prefer emulation to building up my physical library these days!

I've noticed the spike in PAL prices too. I don't think it will ever slow down, it'll just keep rising. Mark my works in 5 years time Panzer Dragoon Saga will be at £750.00

Even if PDS reaches four figure sums. I still won't be parting with it. Unless I'm in a dire situation where I really need to. I still play it every year during week over the summer.

I doubt I will ever part with my copy either. There are 3 Saturn games that I know I would never sell and that's one of them. Winning Post and Enemy Zero are the other two.

My original PDS sold for 3 times what I paid for it.
I'm not expecting that with my current copy.
Isn't that what you'd like, a game increasing in value? Not exponentially but a modest increase.
The majority of NA games still sell for less than the MSRP when released.
I saw a Tumblr list of optimized, unoptimized, partially, etc that shows how crappy Sega of Europe treated you guys. Another list for a different thread.
@ sych, I would never own Winning Post or Enemy Zero again, lol. Cared for neither but that's me, no right or wrong opinion.

Indeed we got some really terrible unoptimised PAL games via Sega Europe. But the unoptimised games aren't the problem because most European Saturn owners like myself have Switchless or some form of a moddded console that allows for 60hz mode. It's the PAL Optimised 50hz games that are the real problem because they never play completely full screen and still have some form of issue with speed which is what led me to buy US versions of Die Hard Arcade, Story of Thor 2 (Legend of Oasis), Golden Axe: The Duel and Guardian Heroes. I switchewd to JPN versions of Sega Rally Plus, Three Dirty Dwarves, Tomb Raiders, Street Racer, Virtual On and Fighting Vipers for that very reason. I'd rather a PAL game was unoptimised for the very reson it can be easily corrected. An optimised PAL game, not so much. BTW what don't you like about Enemy Zero and Winning Post out of interest?

Only been to the tracks once, won $500 off of a friend's info. He walked out with $25,000.
We both had one hundred initially. It left a sour taste in my mouth that he easily could have let me make more. 5 of the races were fixed.
So horse racing is of little to no interest.
EO, just bored me.

Yep, I used to trawl through every standard Daytona listing on eBay, message sellers for shots of the discs hoping to find someone that didn’t know the difference and eventually I got one, I’m missing the manual though sadly.

I bought my entire Saturn collection in almost one go in 2016.
Obviously I'd missed out on the glory days, but it was clear prices would go up further.
Not sure I'd sell anything. Maybe Burning Rangers and NTSC US Dragon Force if they reach utterly insane prices. Hopefully never selling PD Saga.
Most of the favourites in my collection are actually cheaper titles.
Nights and Sega Rally are the two games I associate most with Saturn, so I'm really glad I've got the long box Pal versions.
