The console would have to specifically meet the wants of Sega Saturn/Dreamcast fans. I already have consoles that meet the wants of a Saturn and Dreamcast fan. They're called the Saturn and Dreamcast.

I have no clue as to what any of this has meant. Apart from calling something that doesn't run Saturn games and is completely different to a Saturn, but it's still called a Saturn or something?

It doesn't mean anything. The only thing remotely Saturn related here is the topic creator's username. I already have consoles that meet the wants of a Saturn and Dreamcast fan. Even if you moved this topic to Welcome to the Real World or All Other Systems, it wouldn't fit in those places either. The idea exists in the land of imagination and isn't a system to talk about.

barryburton, those are good questions. I am not focused on emulation. I also have opinions on how gamers use emulation, but I'm not going to start a flamewar. Arcade has been done before. Sega had a lot of great arcade titles on both systems. I don't think that's the way to go. The Saturn is the best system out there for 2D. There would be no topping that. I think all three of the major consoles have their place in the gaming ecosystem. I'm not looking to do a portable system like the Switch. That seems to be Nintendo's space. Plus, Sony has been trying at portable for years and didn't do well. Xbox is certainly popular, but I think it's bland and just rubs me the wrong way. Sony's PS4 is where it's at. It's an excellent console and has a lot of great games. If you look at a lot of the current Sega titles, most of them are well-made and just have a certain feel to them. Sega is more careful at what they focus on than they used to be. When you look at games like Shenmue II, Yakuza Kiwami 2, and Shining Resonance Refrain, they just have that Sega feel to them. I think fans appreciate that they are well-crafted, have great artwork, interesting characters, and good battle systems. With the console I have in mind, the games would be what makes the system special. There could be a focus on anime, RPGs, or specifically on game properties that were on the Saturn. The console could be a target for newer indie developers who don't have titles on major consoles. Ok, so to recap: Emulation of retro2D focusedArcade PortableAnd we know you do like Sega games and the PS4. (me too) I still don't understand what your console is meant to do. Consoles like PS4 and Vita are drowning in JRPGs and Anime themed titles so that's not a niche that needs filling with a new console. There are hundreds of Indie developers making games for the current consoles, Android and PC already. In the words of Duncan Bannatyne, "I'm out" But anyway, good luck.

Switch is a different kind of system, so I don't think it's super comparable. Sure it is. The Switch is a console developed by a major company with developer support behind (including Sega) and intellectual properties people are aware of. The Saturn and Dreamcast were consoles developed by a major company with developer support behind them (including Sega) and intellectual properties people were aware of. Your idea isn't any of that. So, your concept is not comparable.

You're a harsh but accurate man atolm. And not just on this thread.

Ouch! Talk about getting roasted. People are taking this too seriously. It's just an idea. There's no need to get bent out of shape about it.

What about a console that only featured Sega or Sega 3rd party partner-made games?

What about a console that only featured Sega or Sega 3rd party partner-made games? You're again describing what the Saturn and Dreamcast were. You're not Sega though, so how would this supposed console of yours have Sega games? are you implying that Sega is going to develop for your console?

Nothing wrong with having a dream fellas! I get you are trying to help narrow down the idea but we can do this without roasting people Just think of this is a brainstorm session and we are all part of the team Its always good to see enthusiastic Sega and Saturn fans!

All I've posted is reality. I haven't dropped any nicknames or insults. This idea doesn't have anything to do with the Saturn.

What about a console that only featured Sega or Sega 3rd party partner-made games? There's definitely still an audience for Sega-style games, you're on the right track in that sense.
