Hi.
After years of hardly touching my collection Im starting to get a little more time to myself to enjoy playing good old Sega games.
I bought a Saturn Universal V3 modchip but when going to install it seems I have a Sanyo board which has the PC BD TRAP SATURN board between the main board and the CD drive. Im I correct in presuming this modchip wont work with this version of Saturn?

Modchip compatibility is hit and miss since nobody has an original, tested design, everyone is just copying the old Chinese designs. I had two identical modchips behave completely different, even with the newest Phantom chips.
Give it a try and see if it works.
For better compatibility, solder the 5V power wire to the CD board, not the power supply. On the Sanyo drives you may also need to double invert one of the clock signals, basically cut a trace and connect some pins of the 7404, but I forgot the details.

Im reading up one one of your old posts about this. I have a 610-6185-30 Sanyo CD board, without the silver boarder. Simple question first. Where does the modchip go in this configuration? Does it bypass/replace the Trap board, or does it go between the trap and CD or between the MB and the Trap?

It should go between the trap board and the motherboard, but nobody really knows what the trap board does, and I remember my consoles working fine even with it removed... but, to be safe, the modchip should go between the trap and the motherboard.

I can bypass the trap board with the mod chip and proper discs work fine lol. What the point of it?

Like I said, nobody knows exactly why it's there. But it's probably there for a reason, so I'd keep it in.

I've found burns from ISO files don't work but burns from IMG do. But I've got another problem which I'll make a new post.
