I got a saturn from my job somebody was throwing it out so I decided to take it home to see if would function. The system turns on and the disk spins just fine.
I ordered a brand new cable for it off ebay when I try to plug it all into my television I am getting no signal. The saturn is a model MK-8000 it dosen't have the round buttons but more of a ellipse shape.
Is there something wrong with the battery? My TV? Cable etc? I would really like to try and fix it. Most people say its the caps inside the system but i'm not much of a electrical engineer, and I don't have a soldering iron.

Try moving and holding the cable in different positions in the Saturn. They can be a bit finicky.

Yeah still nothing. Just a black screen on my TV. Could my console be toast?

For process of elimination try through another TV.
Which type of cable are you using? SCART, Composite, RF?

It's probably dead; either a bad trace or some internal component died. The CD drive operates independent from the rest of the system, so it can still spin up even though the main processors are not doing anything.
Short of recapping it, you can't do much else.

I am using composite cables, RWY to my tv. I will try another TV and see if it works.

short of recapping it, you can't do much else. Recapping is a dirty word in my house at the moment, I've an Amiga 500, 1200, Macintosh Plus, Mac Classic II and BBC Micro boards all on my bench for a re-cap at the moment, all the surface mount shit on the Amigas makes me want to punch myself in the groin, I hate SMD soldering.
