I bought a custom RGB cable for my JP Saturns, from a reputable UK company (I forget which right now) and it only works on one of them. After a bit of research, it turns out some model 2 machines had an issue with it. My model 1 machine is cool with the cable. Anyone else had any issues with custom RGB leads?

Are you sure you did not buy a cable wired for PAL units? They have different a/v pinouts.

I'm positive. It's a made-to-order custom RGB SCART lead with a 'Do not plug into a PAL unit' sticker on it.
And it works beautifully with my model 1 JP machine.

I suspect the problem is with the machine tbh. Just because it works so well with the model 1.
It was bought from retrogamingcables uk.

Oh, it's a c-sync cable then. Some machines have that output pin dead, because people keep using it in RGB cables directly without properly attenuating it to TTL levels first. The EMI filter on the pin ends up dying.
And on that note, model 2s, especially the later ones, tend to need those filters (and the video output caps) replaced anyway.

Probably cheaper to buy another JP machine than repair then?

I'd just go for a normal SCART cable that uses the proper composite pin instead of memesync.

Yeah meant say the machine works fine with a regular Scart cable, just not the custom rgb. So I have a model 1 that likes the rgb cable but not my Pseudo Saturn cart and a model 2 that's happy with the cart but won't tolerate the cable. Great for native JP games but I have to switch everything around to play backups or PAL games. First world problems, eh?

A luma sync cable is probably your best bet unless you specifically need clean composite sync for something (XRGB3, Extron switch, etc).

I'm just trying to get the best possible picture from my machines on my Smart tv, without shelling out for upscalers and stuff.
