DD Anyone? I must say when I played it for the first time I was kinda dissapointent mostly beacuse of graphics. Why it looks so bad on Saturn? The framerate, pop-up are much worse than on psx and there's no excuse for it. Even menus on psx feel more fluent. And the game saves eat a lot of memory (113 blocks for one save). There're also two mistakes in the manual- there's no such thing as "Pit compound" in the Championship mode menu, you're not also informed about the race standings after you complete a race. Although the game's fine for me I wonder why this conversion is that bad... I've played it on Cassini emulator and it runs well, with more fps's (sometimes too fast) even though my pc is weak (but the game crashes after the race is over). Last thing- it also crashed while I played it on Sat. I waited a little before going for a race and left the game for few minutes on the, let's call it "Race preview screen" (actually it shows the track picture and name), when I came back I noticed that there's no music (and it should be cause it's looped), pressed the button to load the track. The load screen appeared but there was no loading, Saturn was silent.

Cant say I've every had it crash, but it is a prime example of another horribly rushed saturn port.

Was a truely dreadful port, the thing with DD is that it actually aged really badly, even the playstation versions are crap to play now.

Yeah, graphics are crappy but it's still playable, the "survival" mode (Total Destruction) is probably the most enjoyable part of the game. I also noticed that cars go through each other a little too often or they crash even though there's a space between them, the collision detection also sucks. Hmm maybe I'll write a DD review soon...

I had a really scratched up copy on saturn which used to crash sometimes and the music used to fuck up too, i got rid of that but i still have the psx version, TBH i disagree with it being so dated that its no longer fun, i still enjoy a play through every now and then and i also prefer the original to the sequal (which i also own on psx)
is it true the sequal was originally planned for a saturn release too?

Probe started work on a Saturn version of Destruction Derby 2 as the follow-up project to Die Hard Trilogy in early 1997, but later dropped support for the platform taking a port of Formula One along with it in the process. A very early build of DD2 is currently in circulation, though I've no idea how F1 may have been possible as FOCA's license window for using the 1996 season would surely have closed by the time of this game's completion - and there's no way Probe was using the upcoming '97 roster as this had already been made exclusive to Psygnosis for the PlayStation-only sequel, then in development at Bizarre Creations' studio.

I have DD on both the Sega Saturn and Playstation (I got it on the Saturn a good year earlier though) and I can't really see much difference in in the two besides the Playstation version having a few more features.
The game has aged terribly in the graphics department but not at all gameplay wise. I find it very fun to play even to this day but the sad truth is that this one game is the closest thing to real life British Banger Racing (which I'm a fan of) yet it is now over 12 years old!

I used to love going up to Buxton and watching the banger racing when I was younger, great days *sigh*
