I just got my Pal Saturn and I am just about the start my RGB cable Shopping. For my japanese Saturn I use the custom csynch cable for the NTSC devices from retro gaming cables uk and I am happy with the Image Quality the cable delivers on the Framemeister. So in General you can say it would be a no brainer to the pal Csynch cable now.
But I am also tempted to get the snych on luma cable somehow. Because Syn on Luma would work an Pal and NTSC devices. So having a second spare cable that could be used as a universal cable would not a bad idea in theory at last.
I am Aware that according to my life in gaming that Csynch is the best snych type for rgb and Luma is the second best way but I wonder if you guys have experience with both synch types? if so could you really tell the difference between the two or did they look equally good?
Would be pleased hearing some opinions on that matter.

I just want to point out that PAL Saturns don't have C-sync on their pinout, so the decision has pretty much already been made for you.

Yes I know that there is a build in snych seperator in this custom solution. But that does not change anything that is labeled as CSynch. the only question left now is if this custom solution offers a better image quality than the synch on Luma with the Framemeister or not.??
Or does it mean that the fake csych did not offer any advantage over synch luma ?

You might try the cable that comes with the Saturn first, before shopping for extra ones. The SCART cables packed with PAL consoles had quite a lot of shielding, especially the second models which also had separate audio shielding. The first SCART cables had a screw holding the connector closed, the later ones used a more standard SCART connector with the screw-on plug on the cable end.

Thanks for the further replies.
zyrobs Ok that is a good Point. I think I will do that first before getting a new one. Ordered a full pal set, with the the Video cable included so I should get the scart cable too.
Didn't know that Sega was that generous with the Pal Units and included Scart. That is a nice suprise and a stark contrast to the Dreamcast. For the DC I had to get my own scart cable.

You only need Csync if:-
You're connecting to an Extron Crosspoint, Extron interface or video hardware that needs clean sync (typically broadcast/industrial hardware).
You're connecting to an XRGB3, which had the bug that caused sync drop on composite video or luma sync.
Otherwise luma should be fine. Sync stripping can cause other issues like shifting the image over and really you shouldn't do that unless you have to.

Ok thanks a lot for the detailed answer bukoa51. In that case I will get get Sync on Luma from Retro Gaming cables uk and Forget CSYNC in case the RGB cable that was shipped with the Saturn is no good.

Some time later to be posting but just FYI... RGC only does a on-size-fits-all sync on luma SCART cable now for all Saturn consoles, thereby avoiding potential region/cable conflicts. The warning message is still up on the site though, I guess for people that previously bought the cable. www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/sega/saturn
