Have any of youse had Astal running successfully in any emulator?
On the Raspberry Pi, it gets to the Sega screen then fades to black. I'm using Yabause.
On the GPD, it doesnt even get to the Sega screen. I'm using Sanshiro Yabause on there.
I've tried ISOs, mdf and bin/cue files but none work. Is Astal just one of those un-emulate-able titles or is there a secret?

SSF could play it since a very, very long time.

Thanks for the replies, guys.
I'm struggling with getting an ARM chip-based emu for Pi and of course the GPD is running Android. It's not that big of a deal as I own the original and the repro version of Astal I can play on my actual Saturn. I may fire up my old Linux laptop and see if I can figure something out as an experiment.

I can't get Mednafen to play anything on any platform. I always get a different 'Unrecognized argument' message no matter which rom I try to load up.

It sounds like you're using the stand alone version of Mednafen, which should work fine but off the top of my head I can't recall all of the details on how to set it up. Give RetroArch a try: www.retroarch.com/?page=platformsIn the RetroArch folder there should be a folder named 'system'. You'll need to grab the Saturn BIOS from somewhere and place them in the system folder, making sure that they are named correctly: docs.libretro.com/library/beetle_saturn/#biosThen load up RetroArch and in the main menu go to Load Core -> Download Core -> Sega - Saturn (Beetle Saturn). Finally, load the ROM by using Load Content in the main menu. Assuming that your ROM is good it should load up. Further tweaks regarding audio and video can be made in their respective menus.

Yeah, Retroarch is my go-to for every platform from CPC to PSP - except Saturn. For some reason, the frame rate for Saturn emulation in Retroarch (on my Pi4 with 4GB ram) is like a slide show. I've been using the Yabause standalone for Saturn with good results, just not with Astal. Panzer Dragoon Zwei and Saga play very, very well, so that's the main thing. Most of the shooters are awesome too, so it's not that big of a deal. It's just frustrating that Astal is being a little bitch

Yabause is your best bet. Mednafen is a more accurate emulator, but most PCs don't the computing power to run games at full speed as of this present time.
