Oh noes! Well, I once had a similiar problem. But that was only occuring, when I wanted to play backups. You may try to first let the Saturn boot into the System screen and then put the CD in. Maybe that helps.

Cool!
My Saturn keeps playing up. It's not overheating as much as it used to but now it's not reading my back up cart properly. Sometimes it won't read the cart at all and other times some saves won't show up but when I reboot the Saturn they're back.

The cart thing can be solved by pulling the cart out one or two mm at a time til it reads it. Don't push it all the way in. Hello there!

Recently I was wondering if it's really the port's fault. When I wanted to play several cart based games from SNK or Capcom, I often had the problem, that my Saturn wasn't able to detect the card. BUT, when I am using my Memory Card, it never failed yet.

Yeah I've tried pulling the Cart out a little but it's still not workin' properly. I'll keep trying it though. Thanks

In relation to the cart problem, the solder that holds the cart slot to the mother board often cracks. Flip the board over and re-solder all of the pins

I adjusted the laser unit pots on my Saturn until it started to behave... it did not want to boot most games I have, it worked perfectly until some days ago the drive's motor control chip died... CD won't spin, laser stuff works though... I have no spare drives...
As for the VF2 problem, look at the CD through light, are there any tiny holes seen in it ? if yes, the CD is as good as dead...
