Modchips don't play imports, just CD-Rs, however if you are installing a mod chip you should install a region-switch while you have the thing opened up.

Indeed if you're going to open it up you might as well go the whole hog and install region and frequency switches. Although to be honest I'd still stick an AR in there as it makes life a lot easier if you don't have to change cart on a regular basis.

No it won't 50/60 switch your saturn. All the cart does is memory for save games, 1mb RAM, 4mb RAM and a region free key. The older ones also have a comm link socket for backing up saved games to pc.
BTW if anyone has one of the older AR carts with the comm link they'd like to sell I'd be interested.

You could also hunt down one of those NO SOLDER chips. I once had one, and you basically only had to put it in between some flat cable, which goes from the mainboard to the CD drive and one pin into the PSU for power. Absolutely no soldering was needed and the installation is a task of mere minutes. Yet, I think they only work with Model 2 Saturns and are a bit rare by now.

I can fit either the switches or the switchless mod board which does both without drilling the holes/runing the case. I can fit modchips too if required.
I also replace the backup RAM battery with all mods and give the laser a tune up - that is included free with any mod.
There are a number of people on this forum who have had mods done by me, and I have a modding thread on the RRLMUK forum, as well as being their recommended modder.
PM me if you want details - happy to give forum members a discount on the website prices...
