Ok so I play my Saturn on a CRT TV because that's what it was designed to be played on and looks awesome =D
However I have had a strange problem with my crt tv.
The best examples are these:
When I was watching bottom dvd i paused to go get a drin kcame back and where richie was in his white t shirt the tv began going a greenybluey colour there like a circle of it only where his white shirt is!?
This happened with only fools and horses dvd i watched too. I thik it happened on one or two of my saturn games aswell. It only happens at certain times and certain things though...
Any idea what it is? The tv is practically MINT and never had NO problems before... Strange eh?
also this isnt just crt but when i play my saturn i notice some games arent full screen.
Like on the right theres a bit of a black line like the picture isnt centered or something. Not all games are like this though. Is that something to do with the PAL optimizations or something??
Anyways any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Well my cheap ass Panasonic sometimes get this weird yellowish circle on the center right side of the screen when using anything connected by Composite or S-Video. It lasts for about 30 seconds then disappears. Its annoying, but otherwise nice TV and it was really cheap.

It's a hell of a matter with CRT TVs and it's why I bought a LCD even if the image is not as good with retro consoles. It happens when they get old or with the newest ones (the ones from approximatively 2000 to now) 'cause the manufacturers use cheaper components since LCD TVs popularize! The problem is due to a "distortion" of the grid in front of the cathodic tube, when you pause for too long for example or when you watch a black and white movie or an image with a high contrast: there are an accumulation of electrons on a point and to go back to normal you have to turn off your TV (without the remote control) to degauss it completely. But it should reappear sooner or later 'though if you don't take it to a proper TV repairer I don't know how to explain this in proper english but it's a problem with the magnetic yoke. It's also a problem with video games... the score, for instance, which is often static at a corner of the image... spots often appear there. Sometimes it also happens when you put some electronic stuffs near your TV with a different magnetic field (a baffle, a microwave, or an amplifier for example). Then you just have to move it to resolve the problem easily!

What to do is register with Freecycle (you need a Yahoo mail account), find your local group or the one nearest you and put up a wanted ad for a new tv. On my local Freecycle, there are literally tons of them free to good home as everyone's upgrading to flat screen digital set-ups. You'll be doing someone a favour because it saves them having to take it to the dump.
