My brother scored a Japanese Model 1 Saturn with box and all for $20, and decided to sell it to me for the price he bought it at. Being the generous soul that I am, and wanting to spread the Saturn joy, I decided to give it to my best friend who had interest in the machine. (Probably because of my overhyping) The problem here is... I only play shmups, and she ain't much of a shmupper (that throws all my game suggestions out the window. She does love Mushihimesama though, but mainly for it's theme)... and her Japanese is very very basic. She likes RPGs and uh... Bomberman... and sidescrollers. Oooh! And some puzzle games too! She also liked the Neo-Geo Waku Waku 7, so you can guess she likes games with zanny and crazy characters. I need a good list of games that she might like. Remember, Japanese Saturn, but she's English speaking, but she's also into RPGs which throws a wrench into things. Are there any Japanese light RPGs for the Saturn? I hear Grandia is pretty heavy so I'll try to stray her from that from the start. Maybe it could be a great learning tool for her. (She went to school for Japanese and now just needs the personal experience) Oh... one last thing: She lives in a strict household. Games involving panty-shots or anything like that are a major no-no!! Clean games please. If worse comes to worse, I could recommend a North American RPG to her and just give her my ST-Key. Ideas?

Well there are full translation guides for Sakura Taisen 1 and 2. (Just avoid the shower room. ) Wachenroder also has a full translation guide. Cool SRPG. As usual I give Langrisser my highest recommendation. Easy to play, and some good guides that explain how things work. Puzzle games? Magical Drops (except MD1) are great and zanny. Most people prefer 3, but I actually like 2 more.

Tell her to move out. I really recommend Panzer Dragoon Saga, Shining Force III and Albert Odyssey Gaiden, experiences that are exclusive to the Saturn and Saturn alone are always good

superdeadite: Alright. I'll bring some of those up. Though I doubt she'd be into Sakura Taisen. Thanks though! @chizzles: Haha! And yeah most of those seem good. (It's hard trying to see things from her viewpoint. Hehe!) I have a feeling that she'd like Shining Force III a lot. saturnworship: Err... Nights she'd probably like, and Shining Force III, and MAYBE Burning Rangers... though the rest just doesn't seem to be her style. (She hates first person shooters and can't afford/doesn't want to spend money on rare/expensive titles) Thanks for trying anywho! If it were recommendations for me on the other hand, then that'd be a very nice list. She has surprised me in the past with her tastes though. Thanks guys! I'll present her with a list next time I talk to her.

Puyo Puyo 2 and Shanghai Triple Threat are two good puzzlers (triple threat is region free). Baku Baku is also worth picking up and is quite cute to boot.
Saturn Bomberman has a great 1 player mode.
She might like the Parodius games even though they are shmups. The 1st 2 are on 1 disc and should be cheap.
I doubt you could go wrong with Bubble Symphony but that might be hard to get

davyk: Very good choices! In fact, I even agree with the Parodius since she does seem to like some of the Gradius games (not excessively but she will play them from what I can tell) and I believe Parodius is two players simultaneous, right? (I have yet to try any Parodius besides Sexy Parodius so I don't know how the others work) If that's the case, then she'd really enjoy them with her brother since they play games like Gradius V together and junk. Also the themes (besides the Sexy Parodius one) would seem funky enough for her. Though, how high do they usually sell at? And yeah I'll tell her about the puzzle games too. She already did some research and some of the titles you suggested seemed to grab her attention. Snowcat.: If it weren't for the slowdowns in Sonic 2, I'd agree. (In the NTSC version anyways) Though she does love the old Sonic games and doesn't have a Genesis anymore... yeah I think I will recommend it.

Yart,
The Parodius Deluxe Pack is usually not expensive and has the first 2 games in the series. Parodius 1 isn't simultaneous in 2 player mode - you take turns, but Parodius 2 does have the simultaneous mode.
Oshaberi and Sexy (3 and 4 in the series) are more expensive (but not excessively so, and bargains can be found) - they both have simultaneous 2 player modes.

davyk: Alright! @metal_Sonic: Yeah she likes DoDonPachi. She played the MAME version back in the day. One of the few shmups she likes... though she likes Mushihimesama more. Futuristic military isn't her thing. Besides... I think she's getting tired of it. DoDonPachi is my favourite game and I used to talk about it all the time when I discovered what a Manic Shooter was. :/
