Hello there. I've just aquired a Victor V-Saturn RG-JX1 complete with a Japanese plug. My question is what do I do to get this console running safely? Do I need a stepdown converter? I'm really cautious because my Victor Wondermega RG-M1 blew up on me using my Multi-Mega plug, but my Nomad has been running for a while now using a PAL 32x plug. I'm really confused. Please help me out!

There is no external transformer box on a Saturn so your options are to either use a step-down converter or swap the internal power board for a compatible 240v one, the step-down converter is the easier option and is a useful piece of kit to own.
Most consoles that have external 'power bricks' (the massive inline or on plug transformers) like Megadrive etc. can run with a UK power brick as long as the output voltage and polarity into the console are the same.
But yea, step-down ftw!
And welcome tt the forums! ;D

Thanks! Is there a certain stepdown you can recommend me? Also assuming I get the Wondermega fixed, would using an original JAP PSU into this stepdown allow me to play it?

I just got a cheap one off eBay for £5 years ago, It's been fine.
All you do then is plug your JAP Saturn in using it's original lead and you're good to go!

Get one that exceeds the required Wattage of the Saturn by at least 30%. That way it should run well within it's standard operating temperature (Which is usually HOT AS BALLS).

Yep I'd agree with that, going for something that only just meets the requirements will only lead to trouble in the long run. Although 30% more wattage maybe taking it a little too far.
