I had a similar problem with the VDP chip in a Mk1 overheating, but others have reported similar issues due to power supply failiure...
Any chance next time you could snap a photo?

If you touch the top left of ya saturn near the power cord it should pretty hot if so then its a power issue, though mmy mk1 has always done this from when i bought it in 1995 it hasnt once let me down and i've had looooong sessions on it, the thing is resistent to nuclear me thinks, probably second or a joint first in build quality next to the original xbox.

ok ill try and get a picture of it if it is what you say atleast it shouldnt be 2 much of a problem its just strange that it will play perfectly right up till the point u cut the power and back on really. But if yours has lasted since 95 then hopefully mine shud be alright lol

just out of curiosity, after what amount of playtime does this occur for you? becase for me it would occur usually after about 3-4 hours or so of some sega rally, i ask coz if its soon after u start playing then i would be concerned, other wise just let it cool if it starts doin it or do like i used to and stupidly rest a bag of peas on top of the power area.
