Just got a Video CD card... I must say, I'm very underwhelmed with the video quality. This was supposed to be an improvement? In terms of quality it still sucks, just instead of a pixelated mess it's now a smudged up mess. Even the worst quality YouTube videos are better than this.

15 years ago it looked cool ;D That's why the VCD format was phased out.
VCD's will look better in your average DVD player.
I don't know if your old enough to remember 8 tracks but like VCD it served it's purpose back in the day. Look at them today and their faults are glaring.

My second joystick arrived and works great. This ones box is beatup compared to the first and that wasn't due to shipping. I don't care just letting people know. I had a photo of a nice box with the first but I wont bother with this one.

I won this on eBay at the weekend and it arrived today. ;D Everything is in great condition and it came complete with all the documentation and baggies. The joypad is a bit grubby, but I'll take that apart this weekend and give it a good clean. Just need to wait for the copy of Daytona I ordered from Japan to arrive now so I have something to play on it.

It's more like a flyer. It shows some of the launch / early titles, gives a rundown of the system specs and shows the accessories available for the system.
What is interesting is that some of the screen shots used to show Daytona look like they could be taken from an early build as I think some of the scenery is missing.
If anyone is interested I can try and get it scanned and uploaded at some point.

I've got a vague memory of seeing Conehead flyers in SNES game boxes from the US. I'm guessing it was a big thing there in the 80's?

Yeah, a late night comedy show over here, Saturday Night Live, introduced the Coneheads and it was a popular segment. So popular they made a pretty bad movie. One of the worst SNL movie spinoff's with the best being Wayne's World.

Ah. Cheers. Was it SNL that introduced The Simpsons also?

It was actually the Tracey Ullman show that showed the Simpsons.
