Nothing spectacular but it took just over 2 months to arrive, surface shipping from Yamatoku(?). There was a smell of awesomeness when I opened it up, paid £62 for it and the condition is absolutely cracking along with the paperwork. No yellowing on the console itself but pad is a little 'used'. Nice to have a revision of the Saturn that doesn't have wobbly lines, the difference compared to my PAL Saturn is quite drastic.

This hardware isn't for the Sega Saturn Console, but I think it still counts. Say hello to the Mayflash SS to PC Converter. You plug your Saturn peripheral into it, and there's a USB plug on the other end. It's Windows compatible, for every version from Windows 7, on down to Windows 98. It doesn't claim to be Windows 8 compatible, but not surprisingly, it works just fine. Now I get to play SKullgirls with my Saturn pad. A big step up from a keyboard (for me, anyway).

Finalizing my hardware purchases for the year, I got two input devices I'll be showing you guys. A model one controller came with my Saturn when I bought it, but I really wanted a pair of them, so I got a second one. Say what you will about the Model 1, but they're really stylish. They look like 2025 controllers, IMO. Anyway they work just fine, even though the D-Pads are concave, rather than convex. They're not really good for fighting games though, so I got this to complement them. Yeah buddy! This is the Hori Fighting Stick SS, for the Sega Saturn. It arrived all the way from Japan, box included, for about $63.00 US/ 57.20 Euro / 40.29 Pounds. That's altogether with shipping, so it was a huge steal. These are going for $80.00-$120.00 over here, so it payed to wait for an auction, instead of "Buy It Now". As for the stick itself, it's glorious. This is my very first fighting stick, so for those of you that are curious, some quick notes. 1) The joystick is in a square gate and it's eight directional. Whenever you move the joystick towards a direction, it'll click in response. 2) The start button is the small orange one, at the bottom. It's out of the way, so you don't pause the game by accident. 3) The button layout is curved in such a way, that you can put your first three fingers on X, Y and Z (or A, B and C) and it's very comfortable. Now, joysticks don't guarantee 100% accurate results, but they do provide 100% accurate inputs. You have to keep in mind, that playing fighting games well involves muscle memory and timing. You inputs may be correct, but if they're not being entered with the right timing, your moves aren't going to come out. I spent a good part of my day yesterday, playing with this thing. I'm quickly getting used to it, and that's good, because I'll be using it for PC games as well.

Skeleton Saturn bought for 9000 yen, and 6000 yen shipping from Buyee (Yahoo Japan). After fees, about $100.

Picked up a multitap and memory cart with a Dragon Force sticker on it a couple days ago. I was curious what was on the memory cart and all I can say is Damn... Besides several save files for Dragon force, it's got files from Albert Odyssey, Shining the Holy Ark, Iron Storm, Nights, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Shining wisdom, and a couple others.

Finally bagged myself a Saturn wireless pad and receiver (white) to go with my Model 2 JP which will likely become my main Saturn once I've had a go at bringing it back to its former glory with some retr0bright.
Anyone know if the controllers/receiver is interchangeable if I eventually pick up a second pad? Is there a switch on the controller for player 1/2?

Yep, there's a little switch on the bottom of the pad to select player 1 or 2. Edit: I would also note that the Saturn's IR pads are pretty poor, they have a very narrow reception area meaning you have to constantly aim the pad almost exactly at the reciever.

Thanks. I'm willing to give it a chance as I'm sick of cables! I have a CRT upstairs, but I usually find myself playing through an upscaler on a 60" plasma and the controller extension I'm using at the moment is pretty cheap and comes loose.

That’s the bit different from my experience. I’ve been using my wireless pad since 2004/2005 and IMHO it works quite well. And I don’t have to aim it dead ahead with the receiver. Dunno whether the distance from the console and where I sit makes the difference…

Picked up an Action Replay cart to replace one that mysteriously vanished a few years ago (never got around to replacing).

I've finally picked up the USB Saturn Data Link. Been wanting this bad boy for awhile. For those that don't know what it does, it allows you to transfer and back up Save files from your Sega Saturn to a PC via the Action Replay 4 in 1 Cart and vice versa. It also allows you to play and download a selection of homebrew games, although I haven't got round to that part yet as I mainly bought as a back up for my save files on my AR4in1. But now I can finally revisit Panzer Dragoon Saga without worrying about my removing my AR Cart from the Saturn cartridge slot for fear of it wiping the memory one day and IF that day ever happens I have ALL my Saturn Saves backed up on my laptop. Good times!
