It was sold as untested, unfortunately the d-pad won't register left. Shouldn't be too hard to swap internals with one of my other controllers though.

A 6 Player Multitap just arrived from Amazon today, and an Action Replay 4M and another MKII controller are on the way. Of course I tried it with NHL 97, Saturn Bomberman, and three controllers. It worked like a charm.

I've had the PAL version of Sega Ages for a few years now. To be honest though, I've been neglecting playing it, mainly because I didn't have a mission stick. And now I do. This was snatched off of eBay for about $80.00 USD (or 62.58 pounds). A little bit more than I wanted to spend and no box, unfortunately, but I really wanted a black one to match my NTSC Saturn, so I jumped on it. Anyway it plays awesome. This is something I'll say time and time again, but your input device really matters. I can't recommend Space Harrier with joystick or pad; not after using this. The same goes for After Burner II, which is greatly enhanced by using an actual flightstick, imho. Personally, inverted axis just doesn't feel right without a device like this. In case you're wondering, I have a Mad Catz driving wheel and pedals, to play OutRun. I don't have a playseat to put them on though, so that's a hunt for another day.

Oh my, 'tis been awhile since my last visit here, but then again I've not really had anything to contribute in a while either! However, I have finally bought something Sega Saturn related... and begrudgingly, PlaySation related too, and that is the dual console light gun blaster, The Pursuer:

I hope this is okay to post here. I picked up this Sony Trinitron Wega 29" CRT on the weekend: I'm very impressed with the image quality of this thing, even though I've been using a cheap CRT for anything that uses composite connectors for a year or so. Saturn and Mega Drive games look stunning, even with composite output. Light guns work well with great accuracy too. I can't wait for my component cables to arrive to see how much better both systems looks. I've mostly been playing Lost Vikings 2 on Saturn with this and although it's graphics look 16-bit, it still looks so much better on this TV. Even N64 looks great on this thing and that's saying something given how blurry most games look on the system. This will probably be my only composite console until an affordable option for an RGB system becomes available. I had an issue with the image from component connected consoles. The edges of the screen were blurry, which was really noticeable with text. I did a bit of research and discovered turning the contrast and sharpness down to almost nothing helps and now the image looks great. I've been able to access the service menu so I can fine tune the results. Xbox and Gamecube (via Wii) look amazing. I almost wish I hadn't ordered a Gamecube HDMI adaptor. Haven't tried PS2 yet. Will have to get a workaround to get RGB from the DC (I didn't think to look for a set with VGA input). Comparing this CRT TV with my HDMI TV side by side, these consoles look so much better on this TV. If I didn't have HDMI only devices, I'd probably make this CRT my sole TV.

Got home from my holiday to find not only had my new component switcher box arrived but also my Saturn and Mega Drive component cables from HD Retrovision. I was prepared to be underwhelmed but am absolutlely blown away. The cables themselves of excellent quality and the image quality blows composite and s-video out of the water on a CRT. SEGA Rally and SF Alpha 2 were crisp and fluid and I've never seen so much detail in Sonic 3 and Rocket Knight Adventures. The colours seemed a bit off at first but with a bit of fiddling around with the TV's settings, the games look vibrant and colourful again.
If you're still using composite or s-video for either of these systems, stop what you're doing and grab one of these cables and adaptors now. You won't regret it.

Got back from Japan last week and this happened. This image is too poor quality for some eyes, so it includes: Albert Odyssey D Deadalus Digital Dance Mix Dragon Force Enemy Zero (cd case seems to have had some kind of weak acid poured on it lol) Lunar Lunar 2 Grandia Gunbird Riglord Saga Sakura Wars 1, 2 and 3, in limited edition box with special VMU (not pictured) Also: A Model 2 Saturn with JVC disc drive, discounted because it smells like cigarettes Model 2 white controller I realize there are two PSX games pictured and this is a Saturn forum, but for those interested, it's Growlanser and Tetris with Cardcaptor Sakura.

A mk1 JP machine arrived today. I got it in order to play a copy of Sega Ages Outrun that doesn't run on my white mk2. Got pretty cheap as it comes without any controller or cables.
Also got it so I can keep one machine with an AR plugged in so I can play 4MB games and unoptimised PAL games at 60Hz without unplugging cartridges. I can just keep an official backup memory cartridge in my white JP machine now.
The drive was dead when it arrived. Got a picture OK but the drive light was off and the disc wouldn't spin. Opened it up and pressed down on the ribbon cable and it seems to be working now. The seller has agreed I test it for a couple of days. - should be OK. Fingers crossed. The machine is in really nice condition.
If this works out OK, my PAL console is pretty much redundant but I reckon I'll hold onto it for a while anyhow. It comes with the box and all the inserts. Would be nice to pick up a grey controller as well at some point to match the mk1 JP.
