This is a sequel to the "Disk Drive Open" thread, but I'll skip over the backstory and jump right to the question I need answered:
Which version of SSF (1)works with Albert Odyssey: Legend of Eldean, and (2)uses a single "ExternalBackupRAM.bin" file to contain all its saves?
Right now I have version 0.11, which doesn't fit bill (2), and I've heard that most earlier versions fail to meet bill (1). Can someone point me to a version which accomplishes both?

I'm not 100% sure about Albert Odyssey but I seem to remember version 0.08a working with almost everything I had except high resolution games and running at a decent speed on older hardware too. Dunno about the memory file though.

I was under the impression that more games - and not LESS - would be supported with every new revision of SSF, but clearly it seems that certain titles have become incompatible over time. For example, I find that Virtua Cop, VC2 and Panzer Dragoon Zwei won't get further than the very first screens in version 010 beta type 2 (despite many claiming they do work), though I'd rather not switch to a different build as everything else I throw at this build works near perfectly. Of course, I would have upgraded long ago were it not for the driver errors I keep getting with every attempt... would anyone care to help with these problems?

Driver errors, you mean XAudio2? I had the same problem but the only thing you must do is to download those drivers from microsoft page, there's a link on SSF page.
I find the latest versions, 0.11 Alpha R4' and R5 pretty good but I noticed the lack of sound effects in some games. Turns out setting the "highest compatibility" helps, but that's not everything, for some reason one of the values this setting is changing is different than in previous versions (like 0.08) in which everything was fine. 1BlockClock is set now to 80, but changing it to 90 magically enables sound effects in VF2 or Daytona USA (at least I didn't hear SE in those games). I don't even know why this particular setting helps the sound problems but at least there's a solution.
