Unfortunately TV's and devices have different tolerances to faults in cables or noise in the signal. For example, my PC Engine works perfectly fine on my old TV, but with the same cable it has noise on my new TV, turned out to be a shielding problem on the audio cable. Same with my Saturn SCART cable, it was incorrectly wired but worked fine on some TV's but was noisy on others.

Buy another official cable or try a third party one?

Deinterlacing is a pain on hdtvs, they force deinterlacing on any SD signal. This wouldn't be a problem, but most TVs do an incredibly bad job at it. Flicker transparencies are shown with every odd line at full opacity, and every even line at 0 opacity, which completely ruins some effects in older games.
Not too noticeable in 3d games, but this alone totally ruins a ton of 2d games.
I wonder, If I got a home theater amplifier that can also do SD upscaling, would it do a significantly better job, or is the only option an xrgb style dedicated upscaling?

There are deinterlacing options in many TVs service menus if you can get the remote code to access it, my MegaDrive was almost unplayable through my HDTV until I messed with the hiden service options for the SCART inputs.

Hold on a little longer, I've got a cable on order from someone I'll review it (see if it cures my noise problem) then let you know where I got it from.
Depends on the unit, many simply don't handle 240p/15khz signals properly, resulting again in an image incorrectly deinterlaced.
Megadrive is a PITA especially at PAL60, apparently the Genesis is better behaved at 60hz

Okeydokey, today I received my SCART cable from E-bays Adaptorman. This completely cured the picture noise problems I was having when using my Saturn with the XRGB3. I believe that his cables are wired up exactly to the spec they should be, so you could try one of his cables and see how you get on. cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150509779886 (assuming you are using a PAL Saturn, he does cables for NTSC Saturns too though).

None such options on my g10e unfortunately. Well, I'm not too annoyed by it at the moment. Megadrive games work better on Kega Fusion, and I'm only playing Panzer Dragoon Saga at the moment, where it isn't a problem.

i have just tried my dear old saturn on a new hd tv with the scart cable and the screen will not register hits from the light gun on either of the virtua cop games. The trigger works on the option screen and in the game itself the onscreen gun chamber spins around but it will not actually fire any bullets do you have any idea why this might be the case? i would appreciate your insight thankyou

Sounds good, one question though, does the cable output composite at the same time like the official one does? i have just tried my dear old saturn on a new hd tv with the scart cable and the screen will not register hits from the light gun on either of the virtua cop games. The trigger works on the option screen and in the game itself the onscreen gun chamber spins around but it will not actually fire any bullets do you have any idea why this might be the case? i would appreciate your insight thankyou HD TV's don't support light gun games unless you have external sensors placed on/around the TV.

No idea about composite, since I never use it (why would you want composite through SCART anyway?).

No idea about composite, since I never use it (why would you want composite through SCART anyway?). Sometimes I like to record my games through my PC's capture card and with the official cable, I can play in RGB on my TV whilst capturing in composite on my PC. If your TV has a standard AV SCART slot, could you have a look please?

Ah, well my TV has SCART sockets but I can't get to them since I wall mounted it. Why not ask the seller himself since he's a Saturn player too?

Most if not all Saturn SCART cables carry the video sync through the composite video pin, so yeah, it should have composite input as well. Easy enough to check - remove pin 16 from the Scart mount, and the screen should switch back to composite from rgb.
