Lol, neither the Megadrive nor the Saturn have a proprietary connector, it's standard DIN. However in the Saturn's case its almost impossible to find it as a part (lots of cables are readily available though)
Though frankly why you'd want to mess about screwing around with solder, case cutting etc and risking damage to your consoles to save £20 at the most just baffles me.

You don't even need to cut the case. The opening on the back where you fit the video cd card is perfect for holding extra output connectors. Tucking all the cables inside the thing can be tricky though, especially if you take shielding in mind.
