I could do with a new system for this, but hopefully I'll be getting one either at the end of this year or in the next few months at the most, anyway!

I'm sure editing an ini file isn't too technical for you

You'd be surprised - I'm not half as technically minded as people seem to think I should be, based on their expectations of me!

Now that various interfaces for the latest version of Supermodel have been released, I'm finally able to enjoy this brilliant update. However, the graphical problems in Virtua Fighter 3 and Sega Rally 2 (the latter to a lesser extent) are disappointing, though I've been reading about a possible further revision of the emulator due very soon that may fix such issues. Also, because of a very helpful part in the read me file, I can at last enjoy SCUD Race Plus - and it was definitely worth the wait! I realise we can already race on the courses from the original in OutRun 2, but when is Sega going to bring the full package home, preferably including bonus content? My guess is that licensing must surely be to blame for its absence... Bart, the main programmer behind the emulator only this week managed to get a new PC to run the damn thing. Up until now he's been coding on a fairly old PC and counting on volunteers for feedback. Hopefully most of the remaining bugs will be eradicated by Christmas. There's also a forum now up on the website www.supermodel3.com/Forum/viewforum.php?f=3

Wow, I'm impressed with the recent update of Supermodel. I finally get to play legendary arcade games like Daytona USA 2 and SCUD Race for the first time in years. Needless to say, these games are still as fun as they were over a decade ago. It's a pity SEGA Rally 2 has some horrible glitching (although it's probably one of the board's weakest games) and Daytona has some occassional slowdown, but I'm sure the next few revisions will fix this. I just need to find some more ROMs. Game on!

For those of you curious as to why I've been quiet over the last few days, let's just say that I recently experienced a hard drive failure that may have wiped out a considerable amount of my project... you know, the one I keep banging on about here?
Anyway, the fact is that I'm now enjoying a brand new laptop (and nervously still waiting to find out if the last year or so of my hard work can be restored - fortunately, I make annual backups!) that can run SCUD Race at a decent frame rate.
Because it's early days my priorities are getting other things up and running, though hopefully it won't be long until I check out other games such as Sega Rally 2, Daytona 2 or even VF3. Also, I feel that SSF will probably be a lot better now as well. We shall see.

Ana you really should setup a Dropbox folder sync for your project and make a bootable backup of your HDD every week. Annual backups are a bit comical!

Latest update with lighting fixes Looks amazing now! I love the music form that Daytona USA 2 clip. Now I'm not 100% certain but the dude singing sounds a HELL of a lot like the guy who sings the burning rangers theme... The voices are so similar I wouldn't be surprised. I never played Daytona USA 2 or any of the great sega arcade titles when I was a kid, I got all my gaming from consoles but it looks like a fantastic game for sure. Kinda ironic how the Dreamcast couldn't pull of model 3 type visuals though... I read somewhere tha AM2 or whoever were pretty pissed at sega because the specs couldn't even replicate VF3 properly like the arcades for example and one of the reasons we got a daytona usa port rather than the 2nd game and no official scuf race port, perhaps it was in dev but it wouldn't touch the arcade version... I'm trying to think where I read it..

Turns out my ears were right! The vocals in Daytona USA 2 are done by Dennis St. James who did the vocals for Burning Rangers too!
