You should avoid any switch that auto-switches, passive or powered unless it has a manual override.

Yes yes! i knew it would i just bought another one for £9.99, need them for different tvs in my gaming room, the mad catz switch does such a perfect job and it costs so much less then some of the other branded ones out there

Bit of thread necromancy but just in case anyone finds this via Google I want to say I was wrong about the push button switches, they can add noise if you have more than one SCART cable connected into them (and frankly that would be how most people wanted to use them). Also, the push buttons are rubbish and do not isolate one socket from the others (probably why noise can be added).
The MadKatz SCART switch on the other hand, is perfect, if you can find it.
