The downside of DVDs is that once it burns, that's it. If you get a recording you don't like, that's a wasted DVD. I heard the Dazzle is a pretty good capture device. Supposedly the Vista drivers work for Windows 7 too. most DVD recorders Ive seen have a hard drive built in and you just save it to that then burn it to DVD if you like the footage. its actually a pretty smart way to go about it Mick, might look into that myself.

Yes sorry, I should have mentioned that I record to hard disk, watch back then burn, I've also been using the same DVD+RW disc for ages so there's no disc waste going on.
Incidentally my recorder is a cheap and cheerful 'Bush' one with an 80GB hard disk.

Aren't most recorders capable of writing to rewritable discs, anyway? Mick, are you always so willing to splash out on a cheap bush?

retro: Not sure if I understood everything of you last post right. So you mean that there is a difference when I plug saturn-RGB in my adapter and then output s-video from this adapter and connect it via s-video cable to the grabber device. Using directly an s-video saturn cable and connect to the grabber device is best? A DVD recorder or HDD recorder might be a cheaper solution. Maybe I'll look into it although I don't have much free space for it

I heard the Dazzle is a pretty good capture device. Supposedly the Vista drivers work for Windows 7 too. I use a Dazzle, it works well enough for me, almost everything on my YouTube channel was captured with it. & it works great with Windows 7 Mick, are you always so willing to splash out on a cheap bush? Story of my life mate lolololololol!

Maybe I'll look into it although I don't have much free space for it As the Saturn outputs S-video, it's probably better to let it do so as the end result is S-video... unless you have a good quality converter. What I meant, though, was that SCART plugs are poor quality in general (a bad design) and, coupled with often cheap cables, will degrade the signal somewhat. I thought from your post you wanted to take S-video over SCART, though. A proper S-video cable is preferable to an S-video SCART cable, believe it or not!

That looks pretty good although a little bit blurry in full screen. But I think youtube converted the video to smaller size?

That looks just about perfect for me. The only way to make it any better would be to upscale it (even without filtering), so Youtube can use a higher quality mode that has a better framerate / less blurring. Also, there's this card for RGB recording. You'll need to solder a scart -> multi-rca output though (which should be extremely simple). www.pluggedin.tv/sweetspot/specs/index.htmlDunno if it supports Win7 x64 though. I'd like to know this myself.

If it's an XP driver, then it's doubtful it'll support a 64 bit OS.
Also, I don't know whether they've updated it, but years ago that card didn't do HD resolutions over component.

Micomsoft have a new capture card out, specifically designed for videogames. If you can get hold of it, the Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card looks to produce very nice results.
