What's up guys? I'm having trouble burning saturn games, I've seen some guides and most of them tell me to change the mp3 files to wav and all that shenanigans, but I can't seem to find those ISO + MP3 files at all, every game I download are .bin + .cue, I've seen some people saying that it's easier that way since all you have to do is select the cue in a burner and burn and you're good to go, but I had no luck thus far. I've checked the .cues on the notepad and when the file name is wrong, I change them to the correct name, the games are (U) just as my Saturn, I'm burning them on x1 speed using ImgBurn and Phillips CD-Rs but everytime I try to boot them up they go straight to CD Player mode, and even tease me with the songs of the game I tried to burn (Mother F****er!). Every single game I tried to burn brings me to the CD player section, must have spent around 7 CDs so far with no luck. Anyone knows what am I doing wrong? My console is modded. What is the best burner for Saturn Games? Can anyone also PM me some reliable sources for Saturn Isos? I'm kinda clueles. Thanks for the suport guys!

Zyrobs will be along in a moment to tell you it's Imgburn's fault but I've never had any issues with it. Wouldn't hurt to try some different recording software though.
Sharing links to ISO's isn't allowed here, sorry.

I read on the rules it was prohibited to post ISOs links on the forum, but it said that particular messages was okay, right? That's why I asked PMs.

I just downloaded Alcohol 120% and Nero to give it a try, I have that program to change the region of the game, I guess I have Satheader aswell, but I supose you have to create a new .cue when you change the game region, right? I tried Sega Cue Maker and had no luck with it, could not even istall it, and satheader refused to make a .cue from a .bin, I think it asked for a ISO if I'm not mistaken. I'll try your method tonight, I'm at work at the moment and I have classes later on. Thanks for the reply! If anyone have more tips, I would be most grateful.

I use bin/cue images and ImgBurn exclusively and I've never had any problems, regardless of where I got the image from. Iso/mp3 rips are worth avoiding if at all possible. Do you even have any burned games lying around that do run to verify that your modchip works? Maybe try a better CD brand like Taiyo Yuden. Do retail games run?

I have both original games and burned games with the sega saturn I've bought, I got Dark Savior, Guardian Heroes, Megaman 8 and some other games that are burnt into many diferent medias, most of them with really poor quality, and all of them work perfectly. I usually buy Phillips discs because on my Playstation and Dreamcast, burnt games work really well, so I tought they would work just fine on the Saturn aswell, I never saw any Taiyo Yuden CD-Rs on sale here on Brazil, I don't think I'll be able to test on them unfortunately. Do you use any other CD burner other than Imgburn?

Like I said, I only use ImgBurn. I've never felt the need to use anything else 'cause it's always worked for me.
I wouldn't expect you to run into Taiyo Yuden CDs in a store or anything. I haven't seen any here in the US either, I just order them online. The only real problem with them is that you can't really get them in smaller quantities, so you need to buy like 50-100 at a time. They're pretty much the best CD-Rs you can buy, though, so if you can't burn a working copy of a game with those you can definitely rule out the media being the problem.
Do your CD-Rs use a weird color dye or something? It seems like I've heard that black-bottom media and stuff like that won't work on a Saturn. I'd at least try to find a different brand of CD-R if you can.

I've honestly never had a single burnt disc ever act up, and I've tried multiple modchips and multiple saturns, and multiple CD brands using different burn speeds as well... even tried using multiple different apps, and tried two different burners (pioneer DVR-216 and Plextor PX-716SA). There are so many guides telling you to use x app or y brand CDR or burn only at z speeds, but I've never managed to burn bad games with any of those combinations (except for Imgburn which sometimes decided to do bad burns and not detect it even with verification on, but that was on old versions). Once the Saturn itself is fixed to read burned games fine, there are practically no problems beyond.
Out of interest does the burned disc work if you try playing it through an emulator? If they do, the problem is in your Saturn, if they don't, you burned the disc completely wrong and its not a legit Saturn disc.
Also, have you ever had any burned game work on your modded Saturn?

I'd at least try to find a different brand of CD-R if you can. My CDs are normal colored, they are not those black ones. Can you show me the link fo the website you buy those CDs from, I'd like to buy some too. I'll try another CD brand and see how it goes. I'll download a emulator and check if it works, just to make sure, but I don't think that'll be the case since I have other burned CDS that work just fine, it's only the ones I burn that haven't worked thus far. I'll try diferent CDs and the emulator and I'll report back. Thanks for the help in advance!

Just to let you guys know, I finally did it! Using Alcohol 120% on my laptop instead of imgburn on my desktop did the trick, I still don't know if it's imgburn or the CD driver fault, but I can finally burn the games now, so it's irrelevant. Thanks a lot to Zyrobs, Assman, fireuptheretro and buckoa51 for the help, you guys are awesome, you can now lock this thread. Thanks again!

These are the ones I got: www.amazon.com/JVC-Taiyo-Yuden-80min-Silver/dp/B003NYSZUWThey have different discs with different writing surfaces depending on what kind of CD printer you have, but for the quality of the discs themselves, it shouldn't really matter what you get. I think I just went with the cheapest because my burner can't print anything anyway. Zyrobs makes a good point, though. I never run into a situation where certain CD-R brands worked but other ones didn't work at all. I've had lesser quality CDs that had more issues while playing, but it's pretty unlikely you'll see one CD boot and another one fail if the image, burner and software are all the same. You should definitely try an emulator before spending more money. I noticed you said something about having to change filenames in the cue when they were wrong... that sounds odd to me. I've never come across a bin/cue image where I had to mess with the cue file. As long as the two files are in the same directory, you should only have to open the cue in ImgBurn and burn from there. EDIT: I didn't see your last post. Cool, I'm glad you got it working.
