Well when I was home for Christmas, I was hoping to finally get shots of my collection. However, my mother had repackaged everything and I couldn't find the games. I was able to dig out my Modded White and Modded HiSaturns though. These have chips a bit different then what you usually see, so I took some pics. White Saturn (MK2) with a non-soldered chip: Here we have the board with chip all plugged in: The chip plugs into the upper Saturn board, most chips plug into the lower one. The chip connects with a very tiny "fingerboard" ripponcable, and the whole thing rests on a rubber shock absorber to keep it from snaping. The power cable has a very tight metal clip, so soldering is not needed for this chip. A shot of the chip itself disconnected from the board.

Now for the HiSaturn MK1. First a pic of the system itself. Most sites list the system as being charcoal. Actually its two-tone. Top is charcoal, bottom is black. The system's chip is designed to be combatible with both types of Saturns, hence it uses two ribbon cables for connection. There is a big soft pad stuck to the wall of the Saturn to protect the ribbon cable. Also its anchored to the Saturn's metal shielding by double sided tape. Strangely, the power cable is actually connected to the (I think) Saturn's CD drive power plug and not the usual place.

I have to say, I've not seen that exact modchip before (in the white saturn) The one in the Hi-Saturn is the old Mk1 saturn version of the one rob sells, I have that one in one of my PAL consoles, sadly it's not working

The HiSaturn's chip has 4 ribbon cable slots, the other two slots are for MK2 systems making this one a universal chip.

Yeah, got that 20/21 pin universal modchips myself. Heh, we're probably one of the veeery few that still have this type of chip out there. It's actually kind of a bitch to get the ribbons lined up just right, for both 20 pin (oval button) or 21 pin (oval button) saturns. I seem to have to slide it over to the far, far right, or else it doesn't want to seem to boot up correctly.
I remember having hell of a time trying to get it right on both types of systems until I finally figured out the "trick".
