I've completed installing Racketboy's variety of mod chip into a Model 2 Japanese saturn system and documented the process here with high-res photos for anyone looking for a better idea of how it goes together. Note I lengthened the power cable with my own as, with the provided length, it sat perilously close to a power supply heatsink that could, theoretically, melt the insulation and cause +5VDC to short to ground (bad things happen.) I've opted to solder to pin 14 of the 32-pin IC on the CDROM subassembly, even though continuity tests showed pin 14's ~8 MHz signal DID connect to pin 1 of the CDROM I/O ribbon port and therefore the "Signal Wire" contact on the mod chip PCB.
