Got this dual format pad from Gamestation today: Pretty much just to add to the controller database, it's a horrid pad, awful to hold and seriously cheap. Possibly the worst 3rd party pad I've seen for Saturn

i hate 3rd party pads, apart from the ones with the auto buttons which you can use to cheat in games like SOR

Looking at that pad it looks like the playstation version of my dual-platform Explorer32 pad which I have as a spare. It's not that bad actually (at least the buttons are in the right place) and it's far better at the discus on Athlete kings than the standard Saturn controller. ;D

I wonder why they made two different designs dual format instead of just making one saturn and one playstation controller?!

My guess is they wanted to have one for people who preferred the Saturn Pad and one for people who preferred the Playstation Pad.

I'll get a better pic of mine to put on the controllers page later today.

Surely then they would have actually shaped the saturn one like a saturn pad?!

It does appear to be shaped more like a Saturn pad than a playstation one. Although it has the handle bits at the bottom they're not as deep as on a playstation controller. The whole controller is quite 'flat' similar to the Saturn pad whereas yours looks almost exactly like the playstation one. I've tried to compare here. Maybe they made the two pads dual format so that if any stores only took one of the controllers then the target market wasnt restricted. Anyway, the Explorer 32 is not the worst joypad I've ever used (although using it on a playstation is next to impossible due to the layout of the buttons).

Seconding shenmueaddict, I'm not really into third party pads, unless they are made by Hori or similar reputable manufacturer. Nice to keep though, from a collecting angle.........
