Just read your review Sync and once again we probably both agree on quite a bit. I really disagree with NEO alot when it comes to MSH. He seems to be the games biggest critic on this board. And its fair since I take him for one of the biggest 2D fighting purists here. However you're review hits a lot of how I feel about MSH in my short time with it. Presentation and graphics are perfect. Everything Capcom did was well done. The Infinity gems system is super cool. Probably my favorite feature of the game so far. And you pointed out something that I was hoping to hear, that the 2P mode is great. I will likely give it a go with my brother and a friend sometime this week to test that part out. Its weird that there isnt a quality hard difficulty setting. I find it odd that Capcom wouldnt have made some super hard mode for the hardcore fans. The biggest point of argument with this game continuously seems to be with the frame rate/speed. I again find the game to run pretty darn well if not straight very good. Now I understand when compared with the later 4MB Saturn fighters, it simply isnt up to standard, but on its own I find the slowdown complaints feel a bit exaggerated. Maybe again playing the US version has something to do with it. Anyway I look forward to getting 2P games in at some point soon. I love the gameplay overall and really want to start mastering some of the combos. Its a shame the AI is too easy to give a test. But honestly nothing wrong with a game if its strength is 2P. Cheers Derek. As another fighting games purist, I also share alot of Neo's frustrations. I suppose if you held the game up by Capcom's own standards and past offering's on the Saturn up until that point, in many ways MSH is an epic fail but still light years ahead of Streetfighter the Movie. I'm glad you enjoyed my review and agreed with alot of the points I raised. Like yourself, I've never had an issue with the games speed as I always play it in 60hz but once you've played many of Capcom's other 2D fighters on the Saturn you do notice it. At 50hz, it's slightly unbearable which is unfortunately what alot of PAL gamers had to experience unless they had the good sense to mod their consoles like I did. My main gripe will always be with the AI's intelligence as you've also picked up on. It's so frustratingly dissapointing. But the game is still light hearted fun and being able to play as Dr. Doom is really quite something. Glad you're enjoying the game. When you master the air thrust combo's and learn how to chain them with Infinity Attacks, the game truly goes up another notch. So I had heard that MSH runs worse with a 4MB or AR cart (perhaps by adding more frames without the additional performance). However it seemed a lot of people believed that the official 1 MB cart helped out the game. So I tried playing MSH with the 1MB cart today and Im not sure if anything had been improved. Perhaps more animation? Ive read the 3MB option may have not been properly implemented in MSH.

All the Cart variations have the same effect with MSH whether you're using 1 MB, 4mb or AR4IN1 the game will perform exactly the same.

I've tried all the variation cart/no cart/AR cart for MSH and concluded that it just sucks being played at 50hz. Its in all honestly barely playable which is a shame as I really don't want to modify my console. Its curious as people said the same about XMvsSF not playing well at 50hz but my import copy plays absolutely fine at 50hz with AR4. Anyway for whatever reason I spent last night playing Soviet Strike, forgot how difficult the Strike series games are.

Took me a good few hours to clear the first mission, so hard! Seems to be one of the few games I own thats fully compatible with the 3D pad which is nice.

Still playing Virtua Racing. I've finally played the last three tracks and am impressed. The only course I dislike is the second version of the Surfer's Circuit and maybe the very last one.
Sure, the port could have been better, but all the fun of the coin-op is in there. I love the remixed tunes too.

That MSH 50hz vs 60hz = unplayable vs. at least playable. Its a bit of a shame like you say since while its not a perfect port like the later titles, its a nice game. A bit slow at times even in 60hz land over here, but certainly playable and fun.

I've been enjoying Ghen War as of late. So underrated. I'm up to level 7. Oddly after all these years of owning it, I havent given it a proper play yet. I spend so much time trying to beat Away Teams other FPS, Congo the Movie that I told myself I need to beat that before going on to Ghen War. Problem is Congo Movie is ridiculously hard despite also IMO being a very underrated old console FPS.

I'm desperate to give Princess Crown & Magic Knight Rayearth another play through but I must complete Grandia first. "One RPG at a time" I tell myself. Ghen War was a great recommendation from NeoGeoNinja and its more than proven its worth in my collection. The AI level is just right, seriously interesting looking enemies and a fab landscape to roam around in. Your weapons aresenal is so varied its brilliant. The FMV is not too shabby either. I'd recommend giving it a go. I applaud your resillience wanting to see Congo through to the end, if a games too hard I head straight for the AR Cheat codes (Yes Shinobi X, I'm referring to you) With insanely hard games I find my patience just wasn't what it was 10 years ago.

I use walk throughs on some games for the same reason. I don't want to backtrack or spent lots of time looking for something, I want to enjoy the story.

I have the same issue now with RPGs too. I really want to replay PDS and jump into SFIII 2nd and 3rd scenarios but I have to finish Holy Ark first
