Well guys I just bought this on ebay as an impulse buy when I seen it for buy it now for £25 but never really heard of it. I usually seen it go really expensive which is why I jumped at the chance of buying it for that price. Does anyone here have any opinions of the game and if it was worth the money? I watched videos on youtube and so far I am impressed of the gameplay. I definetly need to get some new batteries for the internal memory so that I can play it and the other new eleven saturn games I bought. Thanks for any comments made as well.

Well its made by Treasure and Treasure are a company who's games you EITHER love them or hate them. As generally IMO there are loved by hardcore gamers and hated by casual... (probably because there is a bit of a learning curve)
The story is a lil' complicated at first but its pretty interesting.. Incidentally a true FF fanatic of mine mentioned that the main character Han looks like a dead ringer of Cloud (of FFVII fame)
If you like action RPGs then you should enjoy it. It gets very hectic at times to the point where you have no idea where your characters is onscreen. It also has multiple routes, hidden areas and different endings.
You will need to replay the game many times to unlock all 45 characters which you can select on the VS battle mode (and if you have a multitap up to 6 players can battle each other in the arena, the funniest battles are usually when you let the computer randomly generate your character)
One final note. if you have a uk/eu pal machine then you will have to get the uk PAL version of the game likewise if you have a NTSC machine then get the NTSC version of Guardian Heroes. The reason why is that you will get graphical glitches which are very distracting

thank you for your in depth opinion mate because I had a feeling it was like what you described. I really liked Gunstar Heroes and as this seems a bit like it but with levelling up, then it should be even better.
I cant wait to check the post tomorrow to see if arrived. ;D

I'll admit I don't care for most of Treasure's works. This one especially just but me to sleep.

It's okay... But I think it's a bit overrated. It's not a bad game by any means, but I never though it was anything special. The experience system is actually really cool, but the actual beat-em-up part wasn't as fun as the average Capcom CPS1/2 beat-em-ups.

alot of people usually start of with Han and although hes pretty average and strong personally I think Han is the most boring of the Guardian Heroes.
You should try the others they offer a challenge and the street fighter-esque moves and magic attacks are pretty easy to pull out into great combo's
Your best challenge will be to try and string together 100+ hit combo's

I got home at 4 and it was there in the mail waiting for me and I got to say the game is worth every penny! I was already into the game within the few minutes of the intro anime movie but the game gets even better. I just finished my first attempt which ended in dying towards what I was was the later levels in the underground, so might try easy first to get used to it.It is even better when I know my game saves will not get deleted everytime I turn off my Sega Saturn.

didnt liek guardian heroes much its nothing more then a button masher with five minutes of play being cut up with a pointless 10 minute cutscene thats unskippable not much of a game really the supposed amazing 2d animation is ropey and jagged around the edges all hype no substance

It's good but not that good as some lead me to believe before I purchased it.

I think it's overhyped, but it is a good game, if a little shallow in the gameplay department. Still better than most of the crap out on today's systems though.

I was lucky to get the game for £10 in 1998. I like it a lot.

Personly i love this game, i think its one of the best saturn games with out a dout.
I cant understand the negative comments, i think i has something do with the fact that treasure makes hard games, that some people cant play as they dont have the skills.

I'm a big fan of GH, but it does get tiresome very quickly. It's worth playing through to see all the different endings, but it's a button masher and no mistake. As a lifelong fan of scrolling hackers such as Golden Axe and Streets of Rage, I'm always going to be interested in this type of thing.
