Yeah, that was the grab/seal command. There is no bullet cancelling in Cotton 2. Not that the game needs it, it's nowhere near as bullet heavy as Boomerang gets on the higher ranks. Also, it turns out that trick you mentioned works on all the bosses. Just aim for their weak point and punch away. Doesn't seem to be any real advantage to this, scoring or damage-wise... perhaps further investigation is required, though? I don't think they'd just throw that ability in arbitrarily. I used to fancy myself quite the expert at Cotton Boomerang, but I'm not so sure anymore. Every time I visit this forum I learn something new about the game. You can face mash all the bosses? I have to try that out sometimes. I wish the game wasn't so expensive...

Cotton 2 is fantastic! sorry I haven't been on these boards that much but anyway regarding the game I love it. The chaining system is great as are the street fighter-esque attacks.
I wish I still had my old youtube account I had a complete play through of Cott 2.
I would also have loved to have seen the ST-V version in my local arcades back in the day but unfortunately.....
I had high regard for Success after what they did on Cotton 2 / saturn hardware, then when I saw Cotton for the dreamcast.........
