My personal reccomendation is the original Saturn... It is the only one that OutRun and Space Harrier run on (Slight alterations to the Sh2 set up seemed to seriously mess up the first Sega Ages games for some reason, they will refuse to run on White or later saturns). As for senile saturn, well, my Audio randomly stutters in the Panzer dragoon saga cut scenes sometimes, like they will be speaking, and suddenly it will start randomly repeating bits an to fix it I have to tape the R button to FFW it. Also on my first saturn, the Clock stopped woring and I had to set it every time I switched it on but the Internal Ram was still holding my game saves

(Slight alterations to the Sh2 set up seemed to seriously mess up the first Sega Ages games for some reason, they will refuse to run on White or later saturns). I was so intrigued I sat down testing the damn thing and I can assure you 100% that Sega Ages DOES run on later saturns with no problems whatsoever, with both the early and later motherboard revisions. It also runs flawlessly on my Model 1s and region modded grey Jap machine which I currently have on loan.

Are you using the Sega Ages volume 1 version?
Because I'm talking about the standalone Japanese versions.
JPN OutRun does not play on model 2 white saturns or later.
Unless, it only applies to one specific motherboard issue, however I assure you that the problem is well documented and the Admin of Outrun.org has experienced the same issue.

Since coming here {over the past week} I've been wanting to get a JP Saturn also....question: can they run different region games with an Action Replay? All the main games I want to play are import with exception of the few US games I still have, but my Action Replay is suspect at best. I just brought my Saturn upstairs, it's sitting next to everything else, but I would prefer the White one to match my 360, Wii, and Dreamcast...Not to mention that it's cool {though it's only something I would appreciate}.

My Jap saturn works with an action replay, and it even says "plays PAL, Jap & US saturn games" on the boot-up screen if I recall.
Peripherals such as memory cards are universal, and it should work.
There's often memory issues on the Action Replay 4MB + where it doesn't always commit everything to external memory, but that may have just been the first one I owned.
Oh, and get a Jap DC, there's some ace brawlers on it that eclipse the PS2 versions (like the KoF games).
I guess you could play PAL games on your NTSC Saturn though if all else fails =D !
