Speaking of splurge... Eh I never look to Amazon when going retro. People gouge like crazy. Although the price has gone up regardless these days. Always loved the US artwork the best, just wish they had blown it up to fill the cover.

I´ve been playing Exhumed and it is pretty great. I´m up to the Deserted Slave Camp at the moment.
Still can´t figure out how to do the Amun Bomb Jump though. I never seem to time it right. Guess I won´t bother trying any fancy tricks! Also some of the secrets are pretty well hidden. I explore every nook and cranny and I still have levels where I haven´t found the Transmitter!

Finding all of the Lobotomy Team Dolls is very fun but a challenge that is basically impossible without a youtube walkthrough. If you are playing the PAL version there is no reward for finding them but in the US version it unlocks Death Tank.

I thought you get a special mode to play in NG+, or is that only US too?

Not sure what you are asking. There is something called Lobo Flight mode that allows you to basically fly all over once the game is completed. Finding all of the transmitter pieces helps you unlock the "good" ending.
As far as I know the only thing missing from the PAL version is Death Tank. Not sure why they left it out of that version. DT is honestly a top 50 Saturn game by itself imo, played it a ton once I discovered it back in the day. Luckily the sequel DT Zwei can be found on both the NTSC and PAL versions of Duke Nukem 3D. However even without DT as a reward, finding all 23 team dolls is still super fun. I enjoyed 100%ing the game years ago even though some of the dolls are bitch to get.

That´s the one. I thought Lobo Flight was the reward for getting all the dolls. That´s a good enough reward for me. I have Duke so not having DT isn´t an issue.
As you say, the game is great so finding the dolls will be a fun challenge!

In the PS1 version, collecting the dolls unlocks modes (Dolphin Mode and another one). I dont think collecting dolls unlocks lobo flight, I think its by beating the game but I may have forgotten over the years. Death Tank was also not included in the PS1 version as it was rushed out a bit. Its actually not a bad port even though they did port the Saturn game to Ps1 many months later, they rebuilt the code properly. Saturn version to me and most others is far and away the definitive one.

It's nice to have the PS1 version also as it's a bit like having a directors cut of the game. All the tweaks and differences your come across in level design are very interesting.

OK, so before work I beat the laser maze, which has now brought my total up to 22/23. No idea how to get the last one though. It´s on the final stage but getting back up seems impossible.
On Amun Mines I tend to clip behind the pillar to get the key (it was only when transmittor hunting that I actually found out the proper way to lower it). I´´ve no idea how I do it though, as it just sometimes happens. If I can do that to clip behind the pillar on the final boss stage (keeping levitation but dropping the others), I reckon that last one will be cake. Without it..... ugh.

Yay! Finally got the last doll. Despite what people generally say, I found the final doll much harder to get than the two in the laser maze. The laser maze was pretty easy once you get used to the stupidly large hit boxes they have. The last one though is a nightmare, especially as one slip up results in having to beat the entire boss AGAIN. The irritation involved in having to go through that every time makes it even harder to focus on getting the doll after. It´s done now though! I´m tempted to record a 100% playthrough at a later date in lobo flight mode too! Maybe.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXplaMaQlcs&t=0sAlso, I uploaded this video because I mentioned the pillar clipping to a speedrunner of the game and they didn´t know it was possible. In Amun Mines it´s really easy to do, but I haven´t pulled it off anywhere else. Have a look if you´re interested.

Welcome to the club. Good situational awareness goes along way with the lasers, jumps and what not in fps games. Some have it, some don't. Do or die.

Is Exhumed 3D pad compatible? Just tried it after watching that awesome DF:Retro but it's not working for me. The controller does work with Quake, perhaps the 3D pad only works with the american release Powerslave?
