Just a quick one, was wondering what everybody else thought of this game. just to clarify i think it's one of the worst games i own. i'd rather play thunderhawk. It's so dissapointing compared to the speed and feel of the original daytona.

While I think it's better looking than Daytona, I'm not keen on the handling, it's not a game I play very often.

I love it and much prefer it to the original. The handling's sometimes a bit suss, but the music can only be described as a fucking disgrace, IMO.

I much prefer the original. And btw Thunderhawk is a brilliant game! My personal take on the original is that when it first appeared, I snapped it up and played it to death, but the clipping problems did do my head in when the novelty of finally playing a home version of my all time favourite arcade game wore off. When CCE was released, I rushed out and bought that too. The graphics were vastly improved and the track count had doubled, BUT the music was dire to say the least. And that's coming from a lifelong rock fan. The handling of the cars was peculiar at first, but you soon got to know your personal favourite. But the music, oh the fucking disgrace that called itself music. How dare they. It still makes me angry to hear it today. And yeah, Thunderhawk is king of the chopper games!

I have the UK and Jap versions. The jap one has the original music and i think the handling is a bit better.
Wouldnt swear to it though.

Hmm, while US CCE may look prettier, the original* has closer gameplay to the arcade. So the original* has to be better, gameplay over graphics anyday.
* Jp version

Hahaha,
Ah well.
I only have CCE anyway, but in a day where emulation is so easy ;p
settling for inferior ports is hard.

I too prefer the original to CCE with better handling and MUCH better music than CCE,but CCE has less pop-up and better graphics all round.
I have played an import Circuit Edition and it mixes the original's handling and music with CCE's graphics and for me Circuit Edition will always be the best version.

I hated the handling in CCE. It was freakin' horrible.
Daytona 2 had the same handling and it spoilt the game immesurably for me.
CCE did look really, really nice though.
=)
(it's another example of SOA ruining a perfectly good soundtrack with pomp rock)

Daytona 2 as in the Arcade one?
Not the Dreamcast one right? (They are quite different from eachother from what I gather)
Daytona was one of those racers I never really got into, always been a bit of a Sega Rally and an Outrun nut.

You mean Daytona 2001 on the DC right? yep the handling was equally as bad as CCE in that game and it totally ruined an otherwise good games. I had CCE first and i actually went out my way to get the original Daytona on saturn, it handles so much better and the soundtrack is spot on.
