Okay, just got my AR and everything else today to make the Saturn I have (JPN) work. I plug in the cartridge with an American game, and all it does is it will go to the Sega Saturn screen, go to the "Produced by Sega... or whetever it is", and keep repeating that. The Saturn works fine; It detects the game as not being NTSC-J.

The Saturn cartridge slot is notoriously finicky so it may take numerous insertions, cleaning cart & cartridge slot and in severe cases, gently bending the cartridge slot pins back into making contact.
You are now experiencing the worst thing about the Saturn...the cartridge slot.

DARN. I'll clean the contacts on the cart. hate to take apart my Saturn, but whatever works....
Well, all contacts look fine, both on the cart and console... :/
What should I be looking for in the cartridge slot?

supersegaIf you return to a thread to post additional info and the last post is yours, simply click EDIT and add the info to your last post. There is no reason whatsoever to have three posts one after the other in such a short space of time. I have amalgamated your previous three posts in to one. Thank you.

Sorry, was angry at the time and wasn't using my head. Thank you, though. Going to try the cardboard trick right now. UPDATE; Still not working, with the cardboard trick. Should I just wait the 3 months to get a replacement console from overseas?

Sometimes inserting the cart firmly and then pulling it out just a few millimetres or so will make it work.

Also - make sure you are powering the Saturn up each time and adjusting the cart with the power off. I'm sure the cart only works on booting up.

Right. I've been doing that.
UPDATE; Nothing's working! Brand new AR cart, too. What is that supposed to be?
ANOTHER UPDATE; I'm weeping, feel like I want to snort wasabi, and about ready to throw the Saturn out of the window...

My friend tested it before sending it to me on his Saturn. Think the console is to blame, especially when I wedge stuff in the slot, it gives me different results.

Put the cart all the way in, then put it out a tiny little bit so it's still in, but not all the way.
Try that.

My friend tested it before sending it to me on his Saturn. Then it is not brand new is it. Could be that the cart is just fucked. Happens often with action replays. Try a different cart to see of the cart port works at all. Also, try cleaning the AR cart pins instead of the cart slot. They can gather a lot of dirt and they exacerbate the cart ports problems.

Whoops, lol. It was new, yet he told me it was tested. Maybe he opened it, tested it, and closed it? Either way, I'm getting my local retro game store try the cart tomorrow or Monday.
