It is one of the three projects in development, and after half a year it is still very much in prototype phase. It is very interesting to see it coming around, and I can't wait to test it!

Is the Dreamcast one up and running then? That article seems to imply that.
I'd be up for both solutions. Those moving parts are always a worry. I assume solid state storage also improves loadtimes? Depends on data cache and internal data bus architecture I suppose?

Although the compatibility tests I've seen results for (so far, at least) indicate that very few games have major problems, it seems that demo discs and compilations will only load their menu screens, but it's claimed this issue could be fixed with a patch of some kind - now if only the programmer behind SSF would do this...

Is the Dreamcast one up and running then? That article seems to imply that. I'd be up for both solutions. Those moving parts are always a worry. I assume solid state storage also improves loadtimes? Depends on data cache and internal data bus architecture I suppose? For the Dreamcast, there is an option for faster transfer speeds, but it is optional and might not work 100% on some games (timing problems, etc). For the Saturn, it doesn't improve transfer speeds because the CD controller ASIC is fixed at 2x speed. But load times are still noticeably improved because of the lack of laser seeking. For example, do you remember in Virtua Fighter, when the CPU beats your ass, and you want to continue, and the match will only restart after the motor noise from the Saturn finishes (the CD seeking back to the beginning of the cd track)? Well, no more motor noise, and the match restarts in an instant. Plus the lack of drive noise is straight up ghastly. It is actually bothersome, since some games freeze for a split second while loading, and you can tell that only from the sound cue of the Saturns drive motor. But there is no such sound anymore... Although the compatibility tests I've seen results for (so far, at least) indicate that very few games have major problems, it seems that demo discs and compilations will only load their menu screens, but it's claimed this issue could be fixed with a patch of some kind - now if only the programmer behind SSF would do this... There are compatibility tests for Sarooo? Where can I see those? The author of SSF is working on a GPGPU port of SSF, as far as I know.
