What is everyones opinions on this game? I have already written and formed mine. More to the point, is there anything special about BaM 2? I am doing a review and for the last few, people have been telling I've missed special modes or cool secrets. In fact, someone ( redtail ?) was telling me about a secret in Andretti Racing which pretty almost fixes the entire game which kinda forced me to re-write a fair chunk of the review.

Never played 3, but would later buy 4 on Dreamcast lol. Bust-a-Move 2 is a classic and almost single handedly pushed Tetris out the way and started the ball rolling for a 101 clones that now exist. Taito Corporation could of become very rich if they sued each and everyone but they did nothing, maybe it was Acclaim Entertainment's fault though... Today we have to put up with TV adverts for a Bubble Witch 2 for mobile phones as if it was the new Crazy Frog lol. Even Amiga had one released around 2000-ish called Bubble Hero's, not bad and as long as you had a CD drive. What you see is what you get no matter the level, mode of play or version as they all offer the same thing. Awesome graphics, music and sound effects come naturally which makes it stand above the fakes and wanabies. However they all play the same. Aim then Shoot. Bust-a-move 2 on PSone and Saturn are much the same as games to play, (I have both versions) just the Saturn version uses the built-in clock for demo reasons and if it's set to December your get to see a Christmas related intro instead. All you have to do is stick your teeth into arcade and puzzle mode and see how you get on with it. I'm sure your come out smiling. Bust-a-move 3 you can only compare to what came before and make judgement, as I did for Bust-a-move 4.

Only played BAM2 & 3 on N64 but I assume they are largely the same as the PS1/Saturn versions apart from the 4 player mode in BAM3. BAM2 on N64 is called BAM2:Arcade edition and I'm not sure if that makes a difference.
What sets BAM2 apart from other entries in the series is the versus TT mode. In that mode there are no attacks - it is a straight race but it is incredibly competitive because the mode contains 200 specially designed levels suitable for races. The game picks these at random and keeps the 5 best times for each level so there are bragging rights for knocking your opponent off each table as well as winning matches.
Some levels can be cleared with one shot - so when they turn up the tension is high during the 3-2-1 countdown. It's an excellent mode and it's a shame Taito dropped it from subsequent games. My wife would play against me in this mode for HOURS - long after I had had enough! Great stuff. BAM2 is my favourite version because of this.
Have BAM4 for Dreamcast. I had the PS1 version but it was a loadtime ridden mess which I returned (back in the day when you could return a rubbish video game with no quibble).
Gamecube and PS2 got BAM All Stars which are nice but I'm not a fan of the cell shaded art.

I agree with ya davyk, BAM2 is the daddy and in a nut shell it offers everything you could want from this type of game, (it's the Street Fighter Alpha 2 version of the series) that good.

I never thanked everyone for giving me their feedback on this. Did anyone watch my video on it? I'm keen to BAM3 now and will next year. Also, my next video gives it a mention if anyone is interested in watching it.

Thanks, MIK. At this point, we're looking at a few I was going to have done before the end of the year but I might just store them for the new year because of timing and the fact that this top and bottom 5 video is killing my soul.

Following my viewing of your review, I hunted myself up a copy of Bust-a-Move 2. I nabbed myself a nice disc-only copy, so that I can enjoy the North American version without have to look at that appalling cover art, while paying less than I would for a complete-in-box copy to boot. Looking forward to trying it out.

Booted it up for the first time today and had a blast, sampling everything but the multiplayer and the level editor. I'll have to do a little research (maybe rewatch your review) to get a better understanding of what the different modes and options are all about, but it's certainly very "pick up and play".
Is it just me, or in the Player Vs. Computer mode, is Round 3 a lot harder than Rounds 4, 5, 6, and even 8? I attempted that mode four times, and every time I lost the majority of my continues on that round.

I never found the difficulty uneven. I just found ALL of it difficult. Hah As for the modes, there is not really a whole lot to explain - 2X just gives you more levels and a few other small bits.

Martinii, round 3 is definitely the hardest round. As a kid I could never pass her and always wondered what laid beyond the pink haired girl, but then the one day I fluked out and won I stomped the rest of the game.
To this day, it's still the same story. If you can defeat stage 3, you only have the girl with the pigtails on the Great Wall of China background stage to worry about. Beat that one too, and the game is yours.
Also, PB2 is my favourite puzzle game. <3 PB3 was a joke. The CPU just kills itself.

Beat that one too, and the game is yours. Good to know. Though it is strange that they skewed the difficulty that way. I did actually beat the girl with the pigtails on one occasion, but then I had only two continues left, and luck was not with me on the later foes. Guess I just gotta keep at it, though it can get frustrating at times; I just had a run where I lost all 9 of my continues on round 3! It can be really nuts at times, like when she hits me with extra ball clutter 4-5 times in the same time it takes me to get two shots off! And then I beat the next three rounds without losing a single continue.
