I want to keep my Saturn running well and in good condition. I would like to know if I can safely open the Saturn to clean out the dust on the inside and how to keep the laser moving smoothly inside the system. Thanks.

Its easy to pop it open and clean the dust out. You just need a normal phillips head screw driver and probably one of those air duster cans.
Fixing or maintaining the laser is a different story... I honestly have no idea how you would do something like that. I just know that whenever the laser stops running that most people just buy a new one.
Good luck with your cartridge port though, I'm currently in the process of removing mine and soldering the action replay 4-in-1 directly to the motherboard.
Anyway, good luck!

The laser is fine, but what about the device that moves the laser back and forth? Don't you have to grease it or something? Isn't there also a ribbon cable that connects to the mother board? Can that be removed and plugged back in easily?
